the coach I am redoing now was the victim of a brake to tire fire and a local operator lost a bus last year do to a tire fire...so how do we detect a overheating situation and then what do we do about it???I have tire pressure temperature sensors..
They make pressure monitors with temperature monitors also. Maybe Sean will chime in. Good Luck, TomC
Tire monitors and a "Brake Inspector" would prevent these fires.

The tire monitors protect you from low inflation related tire failure. Proper tire pressure gives you proper tire temperatures.
The brake inspector protects you from brake components that hang up or brakes that are out of adjustment.
Being able to confirm on every application that they are in adjustment and on every release that they fully retracted by way of a dash mounted indicator is terrific.
Dragging brakes, in particular the tag axle, does happen to coaches driven every day by the commercial fleets. They are the devil to the lightly used busnut who isn't following some preventive maintenance schedule for brake service and inspection.
Ask for Andy at Spectra, and identify yourself as a busnut. He will make up harness kits for us.
happy coaching!
