Title: Blower Clamp - Do's and Don'ts
Post by: Dreamscape on April 11, 2010, 02:00:26 PM
Clifford asked me to post these pictures showing how someone had used a zip tie in place of the required clamp on his blower. I'll let him finish the story.

Speaking of clamps! I just today learned a little tid bit about how to get these type clamps tight. After tightening what I thought was really tight, my friend, (who owns a bus shop) came over and told me to get a hammer. I did and told me to tap on the clamp and tighten it some more. I did what he said and he said, do it again. I repeated this same tap and tighten about 4-5 times and I think I must have tightened, what I thought was already pretty tight, about 6 more full turns of the clamp nut! He said this helps to "seat" the clamp. I'm a believer now! When I get it home I will check the torque with my torque wrench but goes to show you that tight ain't tight as you might think!
