Well, the time has come to get serious about cooling my charge air cooler. It is located on the passenger side in it's own housing (no room on the radiator side). The new engine can climb the hills pretty good (500 HP in cruise control) and the water temperature stays quite cool, but the air inlet temperature get much higher than it should. I am using 4 high performance automotive electric fans, but they just don't cut it.
I now have a two stage hydraulic pump and a two speed hydraulic motor. I did some measuring and it looks like I can get a 24 inch fan blade in the housing I made for the CAC. Now I need to find a blade to mount on the motor. We are not home yet, but I think the bolt circle is non-standard.
What I am looking for is a source for the fan blade. When I redid my radiator fan system, I got a blade from: http://www.kit-masters.com/. (http://www.kit-masters.com/.) They do have 24 inch fans in various configurations.
I am curious what other options I have for a fan blade. It will be a sucker type, but with the motor, I can rotate the fan in either direction.
I want to get a pretty aggressive blade pitch/number of blades so that I can move a bunch of air.
If I cure the CAC problem it will sure be nice to use the power I have on the hills rather than backing off to keep the air temp down.

Hi Jim,
I sent you an email.
Dick Egler
Hey Jim, glad to read about your perserverance in your repower. I have a catalog around here that i will dig up in the morning that has alot of technical specs in it for fan blades. I know how you feel with the holding back on the hills! Just this morning i took my Webster hyd. fan motor to just get a newer unit. I would like to get a lighter better fan blade with more blades also. I will post the cat. in the am when i find it. Again good luck and thanks for all the posts on your trials and tribs.
Thanks guys.
Dick I got your email and it looks like what I am looking for.
I will try to call you today.

Jim, hope Dick has you covered and if it is what you are looking for can you guys share the info please. I found the catalog and its CROWLEY multi wing Zseries fans. They are inBurton Ohio 800-311-8465 or 440-834-9400 , and www.multi-wing.com (http://www.multi-wing.com) but it is a 98 catalog so i am sure they have more stuff available. This catalog has mostly the tech asspects at different pitches and different RPM's. (way over my head)
The fan that Dick has available is shown in: http://www.londonfan.co.uk/file.axd?file=2009%2f8%2fBrochure_Impellers_Type_SBATC.pdf. (http://www.londonfan.co.uk/file.axd?file=2009%2f8%2fBrochure_Impellers_Type_SBATC.pdf.) He sent me a picture and I think that this pdf covers the one he has. I can't find the same number but it sure looks like the same unit. Did not check where to get them in US.
I like the idea of an adjustable pitch fan. That way I can play with the pitch for the two speeds.
