I may be overlooking something but how do you close the door when you exit the bus?
I have looked for a release mechanism but can't find one.
I reached through the driver window and push the door lever with a stick to close it.
1978 Gillig school bus
Some Gillig transit coaches have a small door outside under the windshield that has an air release inside...Cable
I figured this out today. Just pull the door close. There is a small tab on the bottom of the right side door.
Just pull it and the doors will close and stay close.
Push doors to open them upon returning to bus.
Will add lock soon.
Some air door valves have a center position that releases the pressure on the ram allowing manual operation.

Yes, that is what I tried today and it worked. Leave it in the center position and then pull the doors closed.
