Title: Prevost air
Post by: eddiepotts on March 21, 2010, 08:36:16 PM
I have a new to me 1982 prevost. It seemed I read somewhere that I should not be making over 120# air on my dash guage. I am showing 140#. Is there something I need to do about it?

Proably someone has set the governor at a 140lbs that is 10 lbs less than the pop off valves should be a place somewhere to check the pressure with a tire gauge near the compressor or a tank

good luck

Eddie,
In the battery compartment you should find an air filler that is used for airing up the brakes and suspension if you ever have to move the bus when the engine won't start. Check that with an air guage that you trust, it is much more accurate than the dash guage. Mine runs around 130 or so and no one has ever adjusted anything that I'm aware of. Good luck, Will

Thanks I will check it there. But if it is 140# do I need to change anything?

If it is really set @ 140# you can remove the cap from the governor, loosen the lock nut, and adjust the set screw until you reach your chosen cut out PSI - Don't forget to reset the lock nut - HTH
