Title: Whats a fair price for a passenger side door window??
Post by: RickB on March 18, 2010, 03:20:19 PM
Hey All,

I was just told that new these windows are $8-900. With a new windshield running me $165 that seems mighty high. I found one used for $200 I was hoping to pay in the $35-50 range.

Anybody else ever break one of these things? or better yet anybody got one lying around that they value less than an arm and a leg?

Or is this another case of me severely underestimating the cost of owning one of these things?

Now is the time to get an aftermarket window that can open and has a screen.

Everyone will list their favorite vendors shortly...

happy coaching!

Peninsula is $295 for the small door window and $280 for a big window. I was hoping to find a reasonable small OEM window for the door and order two more big sliders.

That price is not thermopaned and I really need that driving up here in Minnesnowta... Dont'cha know then

Dude, I think I still have mine. It was a double pane and the outside pane was broken, so now, it's a single pane.

You're welcome to it.

It would do till you can save up for a good one.

I think the 102s used a slightly different window.

This guy on Ebay is parting out 2 buses. You might ask him if he has one.

Thanks for the leads you guys,

Happycampersrus,

The door is missing in the picture but maybe he has the glass to the other side. I'm fairly sure they are swappable. I left him a message.

Tom Y ,

Any help would be appreciated.

Call Choo Choo Express Garage he has at least one "9" that has one on his lot being parted out! I know this because when my "96A3" was there having an engine swapped out (it was cheaper to have them swap it than the wreck bill and I supplied the engine!), the door window ended up getting cracked and they would have used the one off the "9" had it been the right one. But we ended up ordering one somewhere for around $300.

I had mine made for the door in my 8

I don't think it cost a hundred dollar and that was with smoke glass

I took the frame out and took it to a glass shop that makes IG units

They drew up a pattern and made it out of laminated glass on one side and I think if I remember correctly (sometimes that happens) the other side is tempered but maybe not

The window has been on the road for over 30 thousand miles and still has the seal

I think Rick needs the whole window frame and all.  Not just the glass.

He dropped the door when removing it and damaged the window.

It seems that if the GLASS is BROKEN you could straighten the frame and have a NEW window put in

I guess maybe not -- It's a bus conversion and you gotta have a new frame and polished sides and slideouts and a hummer for a toad

It was just a thought that maybe a GLASS COMPANY that builds insulated glass could build one for him

Hey all,

Sorry for the slow responses to your suggestions most of my family has been sick with a cold. To my wife's pure enjoyment I have actually lost my voice for the first time in 15 years! That son of mine collects colds... not butterflies, not baseball cards Noooooo he collects H1N1, strep, the croup. He's got quite a collection and he shares his collection with everyone here at the Barron household and most of St. Paull as well.

Here's where we're at, Gumpy graciously supplied me with his slightly and I do mean slightly broken window. One of the panes has about a 3 inch break in a corner so I'm gonna put this in until my life gets a little more manageable (Think Easter and I'm a Worship Pastor!) and then I'll check on either putting a new piece of glass in this and having it made into a true thermopane again or I will order a slider from Peninsula.

Michael and Christy if I don't use this it will be yours in a month or so knowing Gumpy he'll probably deliver the thing personally! Guys got a heart of gold and I'm glad to have him as a friend.

That's about it for my falling door, broken window saga...

Rick
