I turn on the pilot light and hold it down like I usually do. Then I turn the heater on high and it works great for about 30 seconds then starts to squeel and I hear and see it flicker on both sides. Eventually it shuts it's self off by killing the gas. The funny thing is it works on low and medium just fine. It's just high it will only stay on for a little bit. I am hooked up to a 40# tank in my bay with no regulator. I do have one of those gas meter on the tank though.
Any idea what it could be?
It was the cheap little meter I got for $20 causing the problem. Crazy
We sometimes experience howling of our burners on the machines we build.
The burner manufacturers have lots of theories, but no solid reason.
I favor the theory that it is related to the natural harmonics of the system & it is a result of the echo of the flame bouncing around inside the gas train. A change in environment temperature will effect it as will a change in flame intensity.
My Mr Heater does that, but so far, only on cold start - once things warm up, the noise goes away.
It doesn't hurt anything - except my ears! :o
Tell us more about the cheap little meter.
Is it a gas quantity gage?
Yes it was an inline quantity Gage I got at at discount store. :-\
thing never worked well anyways.
Well, that's one more thing I was thinking about getting that is off my list!
