Title: interior wall finish/trim ideas please!
Post by: bevans6 on March 11, 2010, 07:58:29 AM
The interior walls of my bus are 3/4" construction grade plywood finished with wall paper.  The paper is peeling a bit, splitting between joints in the plywood, and generally isn't what I want long term.  I'm just in the process of redoing the bedroom, installing twin beds, and will be redoing it start to stop.  What are the good ideas and proven techniques for finishing the walls?  I have in my minds eye a wood panelling effect, trim with quarter sawn oak, but I also want to really watch the weight.  Any modern alternatives come to mind that look good and wear well in our environment?

thanks, Brian

In the last two we have upholstered the walls with material..Quilt batting first stapled to walls.then edges of material stapled (with material stretched tight) radius we use contact cement..adds to noise control and doesn't peel. Not very expensive..behind sink and wet areas they make a clear iron on coat to put a water proof coat over the same material.need more info just ask...Trim edges with welting covered with same material.(material covered over rope)

How about cork paneling with wood trim? Cork is a good sound proofing and fireproof material. ere is a link: http://www.duro-design.com/index.cfm/cork-flooring/ (http://www.duro-design.com/index.cfm/cork-flooring/)
