Title: Motor mounts on 6V71
Post by: Paso One on March 07, 2010, 05:10:51 PM
While I have the engine out to modify the bulkhead I decided to upgrade to the later style motor mounts ( the originals were metal on metal)

The attached pictures shows the style the donor bus had  The # on the mount is 40031  Poly

Looks like the lower one got well flattened when in service. ( I assume they started life the same thickness.)

Are these aftermarket mounts ??

Highly recommend you NOT use poly motor mounts.  While they do last longer then rubber, they are harder and transmit more vibration.  Stick with stock rubber motor mounts.  Good Luck, TomC

Thanks Tom  I was hoping to find a set of rubber mounts.  Just wasn't sure if the polys were the easier to find or a change up.

Considering the saddle type metal to metal came out I should notice a big difference in vibration just switching styles.
