Well, today was the day to go out and find out how well the new muffler setup is going to work out. It is/was a beautiful sunny spring fever sort of day here in the land of many snows! I ended up putting on a Donaldson muffler with a side input and an end exhaust. The muffler I choose is a Donaldson M120749. This muffler has almost as good of flow characteristics as the old muffler that came out. By going to this muffler I am able to do a 90 degree turn immediately out of the muffler and then dump directly into the side input on the new muffler. The exhaust pipe is now only about 1 1/2 feet long and I've eliminated the extra 360 degrees of bends I had with the old setup where the input and the exhaust were on the same end. I also mounted the muffler on heavy duty tail pipe hangers so the muffler is now able to move around a little bit with the engine. Here is an old thread where I asked about possibilities and such for a new muffler setup: http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=7864.0 (http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=7864.0) This new muffler is quieter than what I took off. I'm not sure if that is good or bad yet. ;D You know, it just doesn't have the presence at 2100 rpms as it used to and those jakes don't stand out like they did before!
Well, it was great to get the bus out after having it parked for the past 3 months. Everything ran perfectly and without issues. I'm always a bit nervous the first time back out after having parked the bus for a few months as you never know what will just break while the bus is sitting! Now, why did I come back and park it instead of continuing west...?! I don't wanna go home!
Brian...Thanks for the postage...did you find a solution for the intake ? Today was a great day for a bus ride.
Did not get out, working on some electrical issue's before we take a run to Bristol for the spring races.

David,
Right now I am just using the two layers of rubber for the connector. Thanks for asking.
lots of bus conversions out in southern fla today saw 5 0r 6 in two hrs.
Brian,
Thanks for rubbing that in! Everytime I walk walk by my bus I want to jump in and fire it up! Yesterday and today I spent lots of time making firewood just to keep the shop warm. Maybe my priorities are wrong. Warm shop; no bus driving. Hmmmmmmm.

That does sound awesome Dallas! Thank you for the invite and I know it would be good for the bus, but ... work and life get in the way of what is best for the bus! ;D
