Title: electrical problem - dash, other interior lights. 1970 Eagle.
Post by: EagleRun on February 25, 2010, 09:31:07 AM
We have a problem w/our 1970 Eagle where the dash and other accessory lights are on from the moment the engine is turned on.  The lights are basically on any time the bus batteries are on.  So we need to shut off the bus batteries to turn off the dash lights.

Any suggestions or other information we can provide?  This just started happening a few weeks ago.

Thanks!   Floyd

Floyd, Just a shot in the dark here. Check the switch or relay that operates these to see if the contacts are burnt together.  Tom Y

When I started working on my dash I noticed that I had power some places that I shouldn't have power so I started looking at my main battery disconnect and it was turned off so I got out a meter and the switch was off and the power was on --- so I now have another project to replace or repair the Main Battery disconnect switch.  Check your switches with a meter.  Just a thought for places to look.

Unless someone has redone the system with creative wiring with the dash lights on you should have clearance or headlights on also.
Most Eagles the dash lights are wired into the clearance lights circuit

good luck
