Title: Did Kingsley Coach go under???
Post by: RickB on February 22, 2010, 11:36:24 AM
Hey All,

I was hoping to get some awnings cheap through the folks at Kingsley here in Minnesota and all their #'s are disconnected and their website domain was bought by someone else.

Being the guy who finds these kind of things later than everybody else did I sleep through this?

Funny JD from C&J here in Minnesota never mentioned it. His Dad owned it and his sister worked there.

Sorry about the stock... seems to be alot of that going around.

Hoping that they'll have the 8v92 running soon, they got in a rush job and asked if I could wait and I said yes.

I never said I would wait "well".

Thanks for the info Clifford

Rick, no big deal I was not in to the stock for 8 bucks but got greedy and didn't sell.
Fwiw I heard Dan Rubin was trying to revive the co and stick to building the command centers only.
Ralph Dickenson CEO was the problem there building the units and doing short term rentals sounded good but didn't work out good

good luck

Rick,
JD's brother, Matt may still be in the RV building business too but more as a customizer. JD is helping sell some of the Kingsleys on his website: http://busesandmore.com/rvs/ (http://busesandmore.com/rvs/)

Is JD where you're having the 892 gone through? JD is great. But I have a Detroit mechanic that builds two strokes for pulling tractors/trucks, etc. He's a real two stroke nut. Lives about 8 miles further west from me. Probably has a lower hourly rate? I had him run my rack when i had my 871 out two years ago.

I think there may still be a company up there doing work like the Kingsley's, but not under that name. My neighbor Troy built a truck last year. He had them do the design for him. I don't recall the name of the company, though.

Curt from central truck in east bethel is working on mine. JD said they were better when the motor is in the bus rather than out. I'm not sure they even have a stand for one. Curt does a lot of work for them so they must trust him.
Thanks

Yah. I respect JD and staff highly but they would not have been my first choice to do an engine. I've never seen one apart in their shop. I'd say you're on the right track. Another real good source for advice, help, even wrenching is Voight's bus service in Fridley and St Cloud (St Agusta). They've got lots of MCIs. They even have a restored MC-7 that they use for parades. I borrowed a Detroit dolly from them when I pulled my 871 two years ago. Yes, I said borrowed. THen bought the parts from JD.

I've seen several apart at C&J, both in and out of the bus. I would not hesitate to have Dan rebuild mine, but I wouldn't be able to afford their labor rates.
