I don't know, but I can't help but add "It's not easy, being green" - Kermit the Frog.  ;)

Looks like the engine is a 1977 by the serial number. Silver started in 1981.

Which is concidered a better engine and why, mine is a 1981 and it's oil colored (mainly cause I follow MCI's to ensure my iggles rust proof status lol)

Cody,
I have heard that the early 92 series were painted green and were not quite as stout as the newer version that was painted silver.  Hmmm, does this mean if you have an early version and paint it silver, it will last longer??  Jack

The Silver 92s had some changes to help with cooling - beefier blocks and better water pumps, improved head design, etc. I can't remember if the liners changed between silver and green or not. But basically, the silver was more durable and could take heat a little better than the green. And because of the better cooling you could get a little more power out of them.

Ed, you'd be surprised. Ask some of the guys with NJT MCIs. Apparently, you can tell when the engine in the NJT was rebuilt by what strange color they decided to paint it. I have never seen pink but I have seen magenta!

Edmonton Transit painted all replaced components on a donor bus I bought yellow.  I thought it was crazy at first but real easy to tell what was  or has been replaced.

Steering box to steering rod components, starters, alternators,  heater blowers, Made it real easy to strip when looking for good parts.:)
