Suppose I get the "bug" to remove my roofmount OTR unit how would one patch the random holes it leaves behind? Sheet metal or could i make Skylights out of it? Idea's opinions appreciated!
My idea? I would just patch it. Do a nice clean job of it, but I would permanently seal it. Make yourself some nice sheet metal, and rivet it down.
God bless,
John

I'd think some 3M 5200 in between the layers of steel/alum would be a good idea.
Am I missing something here, or are you just removing a roof air conditioner? The last time I did that I replaced it with a Fantastic fan roof vent. Fit right in the hole and sealed. Sorry if I missed the point...Cable
fe2-03--unless I do not know better...the OTR-'Over The Road' Thermo King roof air is different than the standard RV type of roof AC unit.
The Thermo King is a massive system with multiple roof penetrations.
DebDav...Thank you...More fodder for the memory banks...Not far from a helmet fire I'm sure.
Ekhedge; If you get this done, please let me know how.I need to remove a sky light...
The Unit is ruffly 12ft long and 6ft wide it's a big one! Thanks guys!
Good grief....Watch out for hernias...Cable
Can you say forklift :)
Crane comes to mind as being appropriate!
It all depends on the sizes of the holes. Vents are good if they are around 14"x14", or new AC.
If it works I wouldn't remove it. This is a monster of a job.
I thought about just leaving it however the dang thing leaks BIt by bit so b4 Summer lands I'll be n the how another 200 in freon everytime I fix a leak another one springs to life. Not to mention it's Very noisy and draws a ton of amperage! I intend on replacing it with basement heat and air(electric)
