I recently came across an add for an oil filter magnet that attaches to the bottom exterior of the spin-on filter. The obvious concept is that it attracts and holds steel particles. Is there any real value to them?
If you want to try this, you can purchase super strong neodynium rare earth magnets from All Electronics surplus store www.allectronics.com (http://www.allectronics.com) very reasonably. This would possibly trap and hold any steel particles that happen to be on the oil, but would not trap any non-ferrous metals such as copper. I think the filter element would trap tese particles. Tried your link and all it gave me was a goofy search engine and a bunch of my anti spyware crap went crazy LOL ! :)
AH ha! Found it LOL http://www.allelectronics.com/ (http://www.allelectronics.com/)
Magnets work. Many drain plugs used to come with a magnet attached/embedded. I know I wiped a bunch of gunk off f those magnets way back in the day. Be nice to leave it trapped in the filter element. Differential drain plug is good spot foreone also.
