Title: Help Clifford find his lamps
Post by: bobofthenorth on January 31, 2010, 02:33:15 PM
Clifford has helped plenty of us over the years - here's a chance to give a little back.  He's looking for these little devils:

They are about 1" x 3/8" on the display face and about an inch deep.  It doesn't show very well in the pictures but they are designed to snap into a rectangle panel hole.  They have a tiny incandescent bulb inside them.  I have the same units in my panel with red covers on them.  Clifford is looking for white ones to use for backlighting.

Clifford, I don't see whether you are missing lamps or they are just burned out. If you have the assemblies and have too much trouble finding replacements, repairing burned out units can be pretty easy. We needed some tiny dial lamps for an older expensive radio and are very happy with the dial lights .

If you can find an LED that will fit in the case or socket with a little room left over, a tiny resistor could set the current flow in the LED, which would set the brightness of the LED. Since Bob did not bring this up, I'm guessing that this would not work for you. I brought it up so that others might think about doing this. It's very easy to do.

For what it's worth.
