I am looking at replacing my Flx Metro and thought this would be a good replacement.
Anyone in the area that could check it out ?

Adarian,

I can help if it isn't too awfully far out.  Call him and get times of convenience and send me his number.  I can only inspect as a novice.  There is a Cummins auth center up the road and Allison is next door to it.  Contact me by PM or email or my cell phone.

Adarian -

Make sure you have whoever looks at the bus to check out the rear suspension.

If it only has two air bags back there, I'd pass.  That suspension design on the Gillig creates a teeter-totter situation for the driver, and he's on the lighter end.  Lots of work comp claims for back injuries on those models.

OTOH, if it's got four air bellows on the rear axle, the ride is more like an RTS, but still not as nice as a highway coach that has eight or ten.

Gillig builds a solid bus, and they're still around.  Plus, most parts are off-the-shelf, so easy to find.

OCT is a good outfit, with a decent PM program.  Probably sold off at the 12-year mark like most transit agencies, to take advantage of Fed funding for replacements.

FWIW & HTH. . .

;)
