Hey all,
I keep reading about all these parts that are interchangeable between the two and I can't make sense of it. It seems to me that if the 92 series are 2" longer than the 71 series that oil pans, blowers, valve covers, jake brakes would not interchange.
I need to find a shallow bus type oil pan for my 8V92 and don't have a part# and I keep running across them on ebay but they advertise them as fitting both engines and because I don't have a part# I can't find out if they are oem for a 71 or a 92.
In general are there alot of parts that interchange between these two engines? Water pumps, oil coolers, exhaust manifolds etc.
just wondering,
Rick
The man will be along soon to help you out!!
Rick, a 71 oil pan won't fit a 92 to short, the 71 blower is a 1/4 of a in shorter than a 92 ,Jakes will work if they say 71-92a on the housing but the Jake valve bridges from a 71 will not fit a 92,the exhaust manifolds are different 71's are 3 in id and 92's are 2 1/2 in id, the water pumps look the same but are different ( they look the same on a 60s) valve covers are ok.
I got a # for you of a guy in Alb NM Doug Anderson (automotive machine servies) 1-505-242-3548 that has a shallow pan plus any other parts you may need for a 92 very reasonable also
good luck
Told ya!!! I am amazed. I know where to go if I ever have any questions.
Maybe a "HOTLINE" to Clifford would be cool
