Just wondering if some of our Nuts from Tn Could direct me somewhere to have the rack run and a basic checkup done? We'll be heading west around april and I figure i should eventually have somebody who actually knows what they are doing :) look things over before we put another 5k on it!
Check with the Eagles Nest in Nashville
good luck
Just called them Spoke to Russ said they won't touch it! lol Thanks though!
Also might try George Howard of Southeast Motorcoach in Nashville.
615-876-3363
George is an old hand that has been around 2 strokes for yrs and still runs a fleet of MCI's with them!
;D BK ;D
Thanks BK i'll Try him Also I tried the local DD and they quoted me around $850 to run the rack does this sound right to anyone?
It has been over a year, but give A-1 diesel a shout 615-476-4416 or try 615-824-4230.
Just come east to Kyles non-rally and then go a little north to Davids Coach. I think it will be worth your while.
uncle ned
Ok just for the Heads Up BK your fella won't answer his phone ;) not that i blame him LOL Van A-1 will work on it however the fella that specialized in 2 strokes just retired !

try 615-423-3025
If you want to bring it over Monteagle to Chattanooga, the Choo Choo Express Garage will run the rack for $650. And if there is anything else you want done, their shop rate is $55/hr. Joel and Mr. Bowen are very experienced with 2-strokes.
Call them at 706-891-1242 or 423-260-1290
I-24E to I-75S, stay in right lane (exit lane) which will take you off 75 on Exit 1 westbound onto Ringgold Road.
Transition to left lane of Ringgold road asap and make left at first traffic light (Mack Smith Road).
Go south on Mack Smith Road about a mile and a half. Just past the Holiday Travel Park there is a strong "S" curve. Half way through it there is a right turn onto Prater Road. Take it. Shop is one block on the left.
There is a truck place there that replaced a fuel pump for me several years ago I think the name is Blackwood or Black something or the other.
FWIW if you good access to the top of the engine 4 hrs should more than cover having the injectors and rack ran
good luck

Joel said similar (4-6 hours) but also noted that on many buses, there is not good clear access to both sides and that is what can make it take considerably longer. If the Neoplan Endeavor has ample space in the "engine room" then it could be significantly less than $650 because that is assuming the expected challenges getting access.

Mike,
Glad to hear your back. And I agree that Joel and Mr. Bowen are very experienced in 2 strokes! (I would say Mr. Bowen probably cut his teeth on a 2 stroke, but I don't think the 2 stroke was around that long ago! ;D)
As far as the directions go, usually coming off the ramp in a bus it is difficult at best to make it over to the turn lane to make that first left. So what I do is head west on Ringgold road and get over left after the light and turn onto Prater Rd. off Ringold and follow it down to the left curve where the "Choo Choo Garage" is on the right. FWIW YMMV! ;)
That way works too!
I've never had trouble getting to the left lane though. I guess it just depends on the time of day and how much traffic. If the light is green for the ramp, then you can just come straight off the ramp and go straight to the left lane. I've actually had more trouble with the Prater Road left turn due to traffic backing up from the traffic lights.
But it is nice to have more than one way to get there.
ekhedge,
Are you having a running issue? Just curious why you are wanting to have the rack run?
Bryan
Thanks for the heads up all! The folks @ a-1 are going to cut me a deal on some basic checkovers so i'm prolly going with them
Bryanhes- My reasoning for having the rack run is I have no hill climbing power period...I've replaced my fuel filters 3 yes 3 times in less then 3k and it's proven no avail my 6v92ta doesn't smoke a bit and i'm running out of theories....the smallest of grades take me to 30mph. Otherwise runs GREAT! go figure...being i don't have any 2 stroke buddies to look @ it with me and my limited exp with a DD i would just assume leave this in the pro's hands if my budget can stand it. Although anyone wanting to take a wack @ it is welcome too!
I think the folks at A1 Diesel are good folks. The owner David, has many years of experience and owns a nice Eagle with 6V92TA. I don't think running the rack will make much difference in your power. If your engine is not electronic and being a 1985 it's probably not. If not check to make sure you're getting wide open throttle at the engine, it's a simple thing that gets overlooked. If you need help you can call 615 210 4983 I'm just outside of Nashville on the Chattanooga side.
Ken
Just curious have you tried changing the air filter??
If you have a tach you can check to see if it's reaching full throttle in a no load flat road by just holding it wide open and checking your rpm's. It should be governed to around 2100 rpm's.
Rick
Most def changed the air filter.... Everthing obvious has been checked and or done however my knowledge of heavy duty dd's I have yet to venture Into the fuel delivery or timing system of my home on wheels :)
I'd like to say something to myself about my previous post.
You dummy, of course it's a mechanical engine or it wouldn't have a rack to run. Ned, you should have made fun of me.
