Title: New Furnace
Post by: TomC on January 17, 2010, 09:58:35 AM
My Hydroflame 35,000btu furnace was running perfectly fine up to a month ago when my wife and I went out to the bus.  We fired up the furnace to warm up the interior. When we left I shut the propane off, but forgot to shut off the furnace (the bus is plugged in).  Hence once the temp dropped, the furnace came on and ran continuously for a week.  Well-that did the motor in.  And since I had noticed other little idiosyncrasies happening, I decided to just buy a complete new one-especially when I learned that the new furnaces are built with a bigger blower that runs slower and quieter.

I went to an RV store and got a price of $830.00 (ouch!).  Went on line to a RV supply house and got $770.00.  Then on a wim, went to JCWhitney and got a price of $594.97 delivered to my door.  The furnace came directly from Hydroflame.  I installed it yesterday, and except for the furnace setting off my smoke alarms by burning off the initial coating from the manufacturing process, it worked well.  It starts much faster when turned on (the old one would take about 30 seconds to start-the new one-about 2 seconds), and is much quieter.  It doesn't have that whistling sound either inside or outside.  And was a perfect replacement for my old one (15 years old). I recommend using the Atwood Hydroflame IV 35,000btu propane furnace.  Good Luck, TomC

JC Whitney can have some surprisingly low prices at times.  Most of the time I wonder what the pricing guys over there are smoking.  I almost never check JC Whitney for prices simply because they are usually pretty high.

It sounds like your new furnace is much nicer than the old one.  But, who needs a furnace in LA?

JCW is one of my favorite suppliers, especially for all my ancient vehicles.

They can do that because it is drop shipped from the factory to you, JC never has to handle it or invest money in inventory. A good deal for both store and customer.
