Just wanted to know the amount of time you all travel on the road each year... ;D
Thanks,
Danny
Danny,
6 1/2 years, 30,000 miles. Until this past December, my wife and I were both working full time. We set a goal when we purchased our bus to use it at least one weekend a month. With the exception of June, July, and August, when it is just to hot down here in Florida, we have met that goal. We have made 2 out of state trips so far totaling about 3500 miles. That leaves about 26,500 miles doing weekend trips that are no more than 200 miles from home, so you can see, we do a lot of these.
Now that I am retired and my wife's retirement is official 10/2/06, we plan to do more out of states trips (we will see everyone at Timmonsville!!). With higher fuel prices, we are hearing many busnuts say they are still traveling, but spending more time camping and less time on the road. Jack
Danny,
We try to keep the bus active one day, or weekend, or trip, per month. I do this to lower maintenance costs, plus it is a good excuse to use the bus! ;D
Don't always exactly make the one month interval, but it is close. Hopefully, as time goes on, we'll get to use it more. May have to use bio fuels tho' if costs keep increasing like this... >:(
Hope this helps, Phil
45,000 km in 27 months. The folks we bought it from did the conversion and put 44,000 km on it in 9 years.
We both still work full time so don't get much chance to travel.
The first couple of years we had our bus we put 58,000 miles on, then we got kind of sedentary with my medical problems and my wifes employment. We also full time in it and it's hooked up in a campground which makes it kind of hard to move with all my junk spread all over the place.
In the last 2 years we haven't put 1000 miles total on the old beater, which breaks my heart, she really needs to run!

Before the increase in fuel cost and when I didn't have work related travel, we averaged using it every third weekend for three or four days. Fuel costs have reduced our use to every fourth weekend. Average trip is 800-1000 miles with one two week vacation that will be two to five thousand miles. Before fuel cost increase we traveled 15-20k miles, after we 12-15k. bill
