Thanks for the welcome.  I'm just wandering around.  I tend to lurk a bit before posting  --  gotta get the feel of the forum. :)

Thinking of doing a conversion.  If my questions are too basic, forgive me.  Plans are for an MC9.  First batch of questions:  6V92T with an Allison 4 spd  --  how will it perform through the West Coast mountains? Should I expect to replace the 6V92 with an 8V92?  Obviously the 6Vs are much more common.  What realistic fuel mileage can I expect?  Wife says project is OK, if I get rid of a couple of my Corvairs.   >:( Now there's a trade:  2 Corvairs for an MC9.

I did corvairs for awhile still have a corvair powered tube buggy...expect on a good day 6mpg..some get more..but i drive hard..Have 8V92 now and get from 5 to 7 1/2 depending on how hard I drive...Should handle hills ok just a little slower than big engine but should get better fuel mpg..so trade off...Glad wife is on board..Mine is hooked also helping on everything except mechanical...she does good work..and the both of you can take pride on your work...no questions are dumb except ones not ask...You have enjoyed corvairs now time for new adventure,or keep one to pull behind bus.
