Title: BCM January 2010
Post by: Dreamscape on January 02, 2010, 09:09:39 AM
For those of you who do not receive the Bus Conversion Magazine, now is a good time to subscribe to a magazine that caters to US!

I'm going to give you some background on this months feature "Dreamscape". I had wanted for a long time to have our coach featured, but felt it was not ready. Interior was not complete, and my DIY paintjob left a lot to be desired! In other words, I didn't want to put our coach on display to the world until it was finished. At the rate we were going it was to be a very long process, happenings in life have a way of getting in the way.

The whole idea that Mike and Chad expressed to me was this, they wanted someone to display a partially completed conversion. That did it, I knew that our coach fitted that category. This is a great way to get others interested in putting together an article with pictures showing various stages of conversion. Sure we all like to see the finished product, but it also gives us a chance to see what others are doing along the journey.

Come on guys, there are a lot of bus nuts on this board that have either just purchased a shell or an older conversion. You don't have to be a writer or photographer to put something together. Send Mike or Chad an email expressing interest in putting an article together, they are more than willing to help. Get involved in a magazine that is created for us, it's a good way to also create the incentive to complete a put off project and document what you do along the way. Someone might get an idea from what you've done that they've been stumbling on what to do. You don't have to be as long winded as myself, a short write up with pictures will work too. There are a whole lot of buses out there in varous stages, we want to see it all.

They have given us a great forum for us, now it's time to help them build the magazine to what we all want in print.

Paul

Thank you Paul for letting us show off your bus!  You are doing fabulous work.

As Paul mentioned, we welcome articles and even features of buses that are "in progress".  Older buses, newer buses, immaculate and homegrown.  They all represent what bus conversion is all about.  Doing it your way.

Many articles are about big projects.  But I also want to point out that there are many fascinating small projects that would make great "mini articles" that I am sure would be of interest to readers.  Just little unique ideas.  For example within the Dreamscape feature is Paul's "toaster garage" and his built in houshold vacuum storage.  These are neat ideas that are great all on their own and might give other people ideas they can use.

Even things that may seem "everyday" to you, might inspire someone just starting their conversion.  For example last night here at Jack's post rally gathering, someone pointed out Paul's computer/media center as something they would like to incorporate in theirs.

If you have something you would like to publish in the magazine drop us an email or give us a call:

Paul, I don't think your paint job is so bad.  It certainly is better than my peeling clear coat and primered panels covering the original windows.

I go by the 50/50 rule, good at 50' or 50 mph!  ::)
I did learn a lot when I did the job, it was good experience for a rookie. I sure hope when we redo it she will look a lot better, I'm just picky I guess. I'm trying to copy the big boys, only at a much lower cost.  ;) They sure made her look good huh! ;D

Thanks,

Paul

You're more daring than me by painting outside.  A friend of mine want to paint my bus outside, but I've said no so far.

I wish I was ready to paint now.  Another friend has a brother in law with large shop.  I might convince him to use it as winter is his off season.  He does construction trucking and I bet business is way down.  He might like to rent a stall for a few bucks.

Paul, i'm always glad to someone else willing to spend some time in the barrel letting some others take shots at the learning process, but also getting accolades for trying.  goodness knows i've illustrated some ignorant things and i doubt i'm done.

thanks for sharing.

i'll also mention that i renewed my subscription for another 2 years.  i believe this magazine and it's crew have something to offer.  at some point, i read it cover to cover and always learn something.

I want to thank Paul and the Chad for my March of 09 Center fold . Paul emailed me one day and said Chad needed to fill the March Issue. I was a bit reluctant, after all We bought the bus from a fella that had pretty much done it all. So who was I to put it in a magazine. Well having never doing anything like that before , but always wanting to see something of mine in any magazine I thought hell why not. I wrote a small peice and submitted it. It gave the confidence to try it again . So when it warms up a bit I'll give it a shot.
So come on fellas go for it .
