Bussin' 10 is almost here. We presently have 115 coaches registered and usually have 12-15 show up unannounced. Entertainment is all confirmed (Nellie Wilson is sitting in our backyard), and we have 9 vendors coming this year. A fellow busnut is doing the catering for us this year.
Got a phone call yesterday from a Texas busnut, that several were just leaving Texas and were on their way. For those traveling, especially in the east, be careful on the roads. We would rather have you arrive a day or 2 later than have you in a ditch or hospital. Jack
Jack,
You can add me to the almost sure to arrive unannounced list.
The group I'm hauling to Orlando , has not yet given me the final word on whether or not they will be wanting to use the bus for shuttling (even though the original quote/contract was w/o shuttling) or not. I have told them that if they are not going to be using the bus, they won't need to pay for my room since I won;t be there.
At best right now I can say I'll be arriving in Orlando early in the afternoon on the 30th and dropping of at the Marriott-Orlando-World Center, then going to the airport and picking up a group and transferring them back to the hotel.
So I may cut loose and come on down from there late evening on the 30th, or just pop up with a plate and my hand out for breakfast on the 31st. ;D
Either way I hope to make it.
(I'll be the one in the NON-converted 2005 Setra S417)

Jack, libby has been talking about the rally a lot lately, she isn't even close to being ready to travel but watch out when she is lol. She has talked about the rally, the great people coming and going from your place and how much she enjoyed meeting them and visiting, especially the rally at the horse place and the rodeo, we both enjoyed it all, like i say, watch out for when she is ready to travel, I don't think I can control her anymore and I try and I try to keep her out of trouble, it's really difficult for someone as shy and innocent as I am when they get involved with a person like her. lol
Cody,
You know our place is open to you anytime you are in Florida. It does not need to be during the rally.
BK,
Just show up when you can. We will take care of you. Jack

Thanks Jack! I'm looking forward to it! I jest gotta get the details worked out!
I already got drivers whining;
"You can't take that trip, that's the best trip of the yr a wk in FL and no shuttling?",
"Man yer killing us taking all the work!",
"Naw, man we need you in the office things get to hectic when your gone!" ,
"Who's gonna be there to go off on people, when things go wrong? You just can't go off & leave us like that!"So my answers to them have been (and in this order!)
"OK I'll let them use the bus for shuttling 14 hrs a day, & YOU DRIVE IT! ;D"
"Yeah right I get 3-4 trips a yr where I am specifically requested on, or I drive 3-4 times a yr when everyone else has {other} plans, other than that I'm stuck in the shop or office!"
"Well I guess ya'll jest have to not tear up any anvils w/rubber mallets while I'm gone this time huh?"
and last but not least! & my absolute favorite response is.......tada! ;D
"Awe well how does it feel knowing you ain't gotta worry about that either since I'll be in the only bus out that week?
I tell ya they got me all teary eyed! sniff, sniff! .......
bahahahahahahahaha........
I've wanted to attend Arcadia since the first time I heard about! Sorry ;D ;D ;D ;D 8) :o

You know. Maybe that's the whole problem with world politics. If they all had buses, they wouldn't have time or money for war.
The world would be so much more peaceful!

Steve,
I second (or would that be fourth?) what Jack, Gumpy & Jack said,
a huge THANK YOU!
To you and all our service personnel everywhere for the sacrifices you make in order for those at home to have a home to be at! And yes maybe you should teach them about converting buses, you could be like Obama and win a Nobel Peace Prize! ;D
;D BK ;D
Steve, Thank You for all you do to keep us safe. A Merry Christmas to you and all your fellow commrads.
Be safe Wayne
Steve,

Can you send me a PM or email with your name and the date you plan to arrive? Thanks, Jack
It was today, christmas eve 2 years ago that me and libby pulled into the save-a-lot store in arcadia and dialed jacks phone number, he answered and said stay right there we'll come get you. A short time later this boxy little car pulled up with a grumpy looking guy driving it and another guy that was grinning ear to ear, they hopped out and thats when I met jack and NCBob. We headed to jacks house and after pulling around the side I was introduced to jackie by NCBob saying, "here is jackie, my future ex-wife" lol. We got to meet several other bus nuts that were also pulled up behind the house and next to the shop. That night as libby went to bed she seemed kind of distant and lonely, this was going to be her first christmas away from family and especially the grandkids, she was in a strange state with people she didn't know and it was christmas eve. After she went to bed I stayed up and spent the next couple of hours decorating, she woke up to find christmas had hit and hit hard in the bus, even had a christmas tree set up on the dash, there were lights and garland, all the goodies and it was great, me and jamie had anticipated that this would be difficult for her and I was prepared for it. By the end of that day we had found a new family and were deeply involved in enjoying our new friends and on our way to the turner center for the rally in a long line of buses, it was impressive and people would stop and stare as we all rolled by them, it was my first rally and my most memorable one. the highlight to the whole thing was being parked next to NCBob and Floridacliff and their families, what a wonderful introduction to the world of busnuts, we had just came from BK's place and had enjoyed their company for several days, met dallas and cat and already had a good idea of what to expect but meeting everyone at the rally confirmed that we had entered a new phase of our life that we were going to enjoy and meeting people that would become lifelong friends.
Nicely described and done Cody!! i just wish you hadn't mentioned how well you take care of Libby where Fran can read about it.
We know how you feel about Christmas the new busnut family here as Fran and her "sister" Paula cook and pack today for tomorrow's short trip to the Turner Center and Christmas Dinner.
It is 39 degrees in Arcadia this morning, but we are having a great time!! Looking forward to meeting more of the folks I read here.
Tom Hamrick
I do hope someone documents the event for those of us who wanted to be there, but could not make it.
During 2010, I hope to make some of the events, because there is so much to learn from those who also enjoy buses, but whose ideas differ.
Is it not great that we are all different!! Some more than others?
Like Cody, We were at Jacks 2 years ago also..Well not at his place but at the rally. We knew no one, except we had met Jack earlier in the year. We didnt have our bus then and were "the folks in the van". It was a great time and I learned more in that weekend about busses then any book could teach. We have opted not to travel this winter and put that money into getting the bus done in prep for bussin 2011.. Im sure you all will have a great time this year and we will be eager to see pics and here the tales ! Oh, and Id take 39 right now.Its 8 degrees here !
I'm heading down to Atlanta area to wait on my bus load of college students to take to Orlando, and then I'll be on down to Arcadia! ;D

I'm here at Arcadia - Wife had to work - The pricing here is based on 2 people per coach (Unfortunately it's always been that - I've come alone but paid for two people 5 years in a row - wife was only able to made it to two rallies -
sooooo
When you get here - look me up - come as my guest (your already paid for) - Plus you can bunk with me - if you don't mind an RTS BUS CONVERSION
You get the coach !!
Pete RTS/Daytona (I'm park along the outside of the meeting / dining area - only RTS here so far - Dolphins on the side of a Metalic pewter Bus)
BK, don't forget to check the bus before lock up >:( ;D ;D ;D
BK, where are you?
The morning donuts are being laid out as we speak, and Pete's not even up yet!
i saw his invite and you lucky guy, you'll be right next to Fran and I!!
Drive safely, better late than never.

Pete, this may be a very memorable spelling mistake for you.
You just condemned yourself to sleeping out on the grass!! From experience, I can tell you the fire ants will love that!! You just promised your entire COACH to BK, not just the COUCH, as you intended. ;D
And knowing BK, he'll probably make you live up to it. :D

Hey Cody,
That was probably one of the best times I have ever had at Bussin, It took two days for my guts to stop hurting from all the laughing and I really enjoyed the fellowship and all the great "potluck" lunches.
Unfortunately this year, I ended up stealing the days I was going to Bussin to deal with other issues, so I am at work instead of relaxing in Arcadia. Next year for sure..........
Have FUN everyone.......only two hours away and soooooooo jealous.........
Cliff
wanted to say hi and happy new year to all the great people we meet a bussin 09

John & Lidia,
Sorry you and everyone else that couldn't make it, missed it!
This was my first time to Jack & Paula's rally and I had a blast!
I didn't make it out to see near enough of the buses here. I tried but I kept running into folks who knew who I was and never made it past halfway of the first row!
But I met sooooooo many great people and had so much fun, it was just great not to be worrying about anything at all! (no bus problems, no drivers, no wrong parts, or cranky passengers, nothing, just meeting GREAT people seeing great buses and being
WARM! Thanks to Jack, Paula, Pete and everybody for a great time and all the hospitality! ;D

Another convert to the Arcadia New Year's!
Wish I was there, been watching the pics showing up.
happy coaching!

I really want to get there one of these years, but the $1,200 for fuel never seems to materialize. It costs a ton of money to fly there with hotel and rental car cost. It is tourist and hoilday season so everything is sky high.
At least by next year I should have working heat.
$1200 divided by 50 weeks....
$24 a week...
no more eating out should do it?
happy coaching!

I see the Airstream was parked where you couldn't see it from the road ;D

I don't eat out, don't smoke, don't drink coffee nor alcohol. Most of the things that all the money experts say are little things that can be cut to save money I already don't spend money on. If I spent less money on the bus I could probably do it.
I just have to make it a priority. I'll have to see if can the time off time. My co-worker often takes time off between Christmas and New Year's.

Yeah, but I got to park next to a very nice Eagle, close to Pat's slightly modified Scenicruiser too! ;D ;D ;D
Pat shared some interesting tips too . . .
Also parked nearby was Lou & Renea's Neoplan Spaceliner - I was fortunate enough to get to meet them too, so, I had the best parking spot I could have hoped for! ;D

Actually it was parked closer to the road than most, and farther away from the main pavilion than any! ;D (I thought they hid it down there so it would blend in with the couple of left over FEMA trailers! ;D
But in all honesty it didn't matter what you used to get there in, or slept in. It was the fact that you made it there that mattered the most! There were all kinds of coaches in all stages from still having seats, stripped out, to fully converted, and loads of great people from every walk of life imaginable there!
So next year BE THERE or be square! I think they should put the bbs on hold during the rally next year and make it a one way live feed to what is happening there so people can see what they are missing! ;D
