I hope we aren't having trouble....
I started it up today, and noticed a puddle of tranny fluid leaking out from underneath the bus. It is coming out of a tube, that comes off of the tranny (on the curb right side). I believe it to be the slobber tube.
It was only 30 when I started it, so it isn't very cold.
I have lost probably a pint, maybe more. Does anybody have ANY ideas?
Sammy, we miss you!
God bless,
John
Never heard of a slober tube on a tranny. You may want to look farther. Good luck. Tom Y
Would be funny to wait for BK to get a new engine in his setra, then pour some oil under it lol.
Let it warm up and check the fluid level-it might be as simple as being overfilled. Then again-you might have a leaking transcooler transferring radiator coolant to the trans fluid causing it to be over filled. But then you can also tell because the trans fluid's color turns into chocolate colored. Good Luck, TomC
Thanks for the replies.
Cody you are mean :o ;D :D :D ;D.
Tom Y, sorry, I meant vent tube...
TomC, Will do, but I know it hasn't been overfilled. It has done perfectly for the last 40K miles. We are going to take it in for service, and get the filter changed. We changed to trynsend 40K ago, and that could be why the filters are stopped...
God bless,
John
Thats A Good One Cody !!!! Shame Shame
I Could See BK Now :o
The Post Would Be Two Pages Long..LOL
JOHN
It was somebody elses idea, I'm much to shy and innocent to think of anything like that lol.

Anybody know how hard it is to change out the filters on the B500? It doesn't look too complex to me...
Thoughts?

John,
It's not hard to do. On all 5 buses we have with the B500 there is a cross member that bolts to each side of the frame that has to come off. Then there are 2 round plates that are bolted to the bottom of the transmission. take out the bolts and pull down the covers remove the filters and replace. Put new O-rings in place put the covers back on. Being very careful not to over tighten them as they do go into aluminum! Put the cross member back on.
Refill the trans fluid and yer done.
PS your MCI may not have the cross over member that the Setra's & Dina have.
;D BK ;D

Go ahead, but I can assure you that you will make quick enemies with the guys at Clarke Power Services in Jackson, TN where it's being installed since they are covering 1 year parts & LABOR unlimited miles! ;D
;D BK ;D
Folks, I got good news. BK's tranny troubles stayed put ;D. I was concerned that they moved north, but looks like they are heading for warmer climates (lookout ;D).
The tranny appears to be fine. We changed out the filters, per Dallas's suggestion, and that fixed it. I was amazed! The top tranny guy at Central power, was shocked. He has never heard of the filters fixing a problem like that. Kudos to Dallas. It was HIS idea, not mine. That is what solved the problem.
Thank you all so much, and especially thanks Dallas. Looks like you have one up on the head Allison tech, and Central power. Now that is impressive.
God bless,
John
oops BK lol
John316:
which Central Power systems were you at?
i was broken down in Springfield, MO at their shop and lived on the bus in their yard for a month as they rebuilt the engine. i still have the jacket that the parts guy gave me when i finally left home for CA, haha.
if it was Springfield, and the transmission man was Steve Carter, he is one HELL(x4634274632) of a tranny mecahnic.
