Title: Going to be putting our bus up for sale on ebay this week, Lakeland, FL
Post by: ilyafish on December 11, 2009, 11:51:44 AM
Hey all,

Its been a while.  With the possibility of getting the bus fixed becoming not a possibility at all basically, we have decided to sell the bus.  Besides spray foam, plywood, and a waste vegetable oil system which is meaningless to the average busnut, we are not too deep into the conversion process.  It's cheaper to buy a running MC9 right now than to replace our engine, so we dont really have too much of a choice, not to mention with a storage bill racking up $75 a month, its almost at half of what the bus is worth.

The bus is currently in the Lakeland Fl area, which is not far from Orlando, and i know Arcadia is coming up so just figured before i get ready to put the bus up if anyone was looking around for a good parts bus that would be in Arcadia, might be a good way to get 2 things done in one trip.

I'm assuming a non running MC9 probably isnt worth more than 1k, if that.  So yeah, just figured I'd throw it out there, any tips on selling it or potential buyers would be cool.  Hopes are a bit low right now though.

Ilya,
Just a thought, but maybe you could hand over the title to the bus to the shop owner in exchange for recovering your waste oil system and whatever other parts you want/need for the next bus.
FWIW ;D  BK  ;D

If you list with Ebay how about putting the item # on here so we can look?  Tom Y

Ilya,

I spoke with you a few times long ago and it was great getting to know you a little.  Good luck with your search for a new bus and the sale of the old one.

Are you still into WVO?  I can't see why not but I was wondering.

Again, Good Luck,

John

John,

yes I am...well at least I was hahaha.  with my next bus i will be too.  Looks like however, unless something changes, I might just be a sideline busnut for a few years.  The band is currently recording a new album, and our next step is touring with bigger bands.  We just got a manager, and after speaking to him, he told us that bigger bands wont take a smaller band on tour with them if they have a bus....its kinda like a slap in the face to the bigger band.  So we might just have to use a van for a few years.  Then again, other tours require bands to have a bus....so....not sure to be honest.  Alot of things up in the air.

did you ever end up using WVO John?

Ilya,

I never fully intended to burn WVO.  My master plan was to burn BioD that I made from WVO.  I have no doubt in the validity of using WVO in the older mechanicals but BioD will go in any engine.  Worst case is in the winter you need to dilute it with DinoD or run heaters as in WVO burners.

I have a friend that has one D truck and will be getting another.  The economy thing has impacted his schedule.  He was going to be the "consumer" of the BioD i made and he was a full partner.  He flaked out on me.  I have 250 gal of WVO and 55 gallons of Methal Alcohol, pumps, vac pumps, misc chems, 8 55 gal drums, barrel pumps, 58 gal settling tanks and other stuff.  All I really don't have is a processor and most importantly......a friggen place to do this.  CRAP!  All dressed up and no place to go.  I have had no one even investigate some of the offers I have made on Craig's and other places......not for sale but for some kind of reciprocal relationship.  NADA!

If the bus I intend to purchase has a fuel rail then I couldn't use WVO and I intend to purchase a D auto down the road.  If I could find a Bus that was converted for WVO I would give that a lot of thought.

Good luck to you Ilya.  Hope it all works out with the band and I am sure it will.  Please keep me posted on your progress.  Many of us care.

John
