Title: Please be careful
Post by: cody on December 08, 2009, 03:37:55 PM
For our friends in the path of the storm, please be carefull, it's shaping up to be a monster.  We're projected to get around 2 ft of snow over the next 36 hours but I don't have to go anywhere, be carefull out there and be safe.

Don, we should be just fine, the shovels are all warmed up and the snowblower is set to go, our heat is a ventless natural gas wall heater, it's not dependant on electricity, all we'll do is hunker down and wait it out, my concern is for the busnuts that are in the path of the storm, the advantage most busnuts have is if the electricity does go out, most of us have generators, just use them safely, it seems every year we hear about the guy that fires up the generator in the garage and then closes the door and goes to sleep for a really long time.

Yesterday they were predicting 5-8 inches here. I told them at work I wouldn't be in today or tomorrow. Today they're predicting 8-10 inches. It snowed all day and just started accumulating in the late afternoon... barely. Maybe we'll get dumped on and I won't have to go in Thursday or Friday! Telecommuting from home definitely has some advantages  :)

The storm is leaving here ( Colo. ) leaving behind about 3 inches of snow and the low tonite is expected to get to 10 below. The further northeast it goes the worst it gets. Botton the hatches.

Stay warm Wayne

I've got an idea, live in a warmer climate! I read about it and shiver, got too much southern blood in me I guess! ;D

Y'all have fun and stay warm!

It's only getting to 25 here tonight, a heat wave compared to some of you guys.

When libby is stronger, I'll be enjoying the warmer weather again too, this winter will be spent caring for her but watch out after that lol, meanwhile, we'll batten the hatches and watch the storm from the windows.

The high in Oklahoma for tomorrow is supposed to be a balmy 28 and the low is 21. The low gets even better Thursday night of 13. Boy I sure miss Las Vegas weather  :(

Everyone stay bundled up!

We had wind gusts that were reported to be up to 80 mph last night in Quarzsite. Just rocked us to sleep. Some stick and staples not so lucky.

Van,

25 in Vegas? That is unusual. Although I did live ther in 2004 when it dumped on the strip. That was kind of cool. I just saw it was snowing there off and on today, wow! Crazy weather.

It is still usually allot nicer weather there than here in OK. I can deal with 110 better than 30  ;D

Do we blame all this snow on Global Warming?

I used to drive regularly in snow, and remember having to follow vehicle tracks in the snow to stay on the road.

Followed them (the tracks) into a rest area with a fully loaded commuter bus -

Take care, all who are travelling - Drive safely.

Van,

What do you do in Vegas? I lived there from 03-06. The wife and I do miss it from time to time. I was the General Manager for Cobalt Boats of LV in Henderson. They have since closed the store there as of the first of this year. Along with several other boat and RV dealers, Cal,s and Marine Max. The economy sure hit hard there.

Take care,
Bryan

Yes indeed. I have been a delivery driver(Milwaukee/Waukesha WI. area) for over 24 years now and I'm used to it since I have seen just about every kind of weather there is although I have yet to see a tornado in person. I probably will at some point. As long as you have good tires, you should be ok.
I will pray for you and your wife.

And very windy too, John....(here anyways).

I just got new Wrangler Authority tires on my truck. So far, I love them. Two wheel drive truck, everything is either snow packed, or a glaze, and no problems (of course, if our city would get with the program, we wouldn't have any issues ::) ::) ::)). Kinda funny, they were 150 a tire, and people thought that was expensive. I thought they were cheap...Why? Because we bought bus tires not to long ago ;D :D :D ;D

God bless,

John

I'm still waiting for someone to adopt me and get me out of here, -26F actual temp and -45 or so with the wind but not much snow up here. Cody the area you live in is actually very beautiful with all that snow, but I still hate the cold. Maybe next year our ship will come in and we can point that big ol girl south for a few months.

We are experiencing that front right now.

Glad I decided to wear a t-shirt under my regular clothes as it dipped to 69 during the day.

Forget it if I add the wind chill to that........ ;D

The temps are supposed to drop down to 54 degrees tonight.   Brrrrrrrrr.  ;)

The storm has passed thru our area, now it's about 2F and we ended up with a couple of feet of snow but not too bad, now we can get on with winter lol.

It is substantially colder here, and that is good I love the cold, so long as we don't have a reappearance of last years freak weather (10 inch's snow)which turned my 15 minute drive into a 6 hr slide show ;D

Hey Van, I just had a hell of an idea, you love the cold and I love the warmth, we should just trade places!!! I am somewhat flexable , would be happy even just for a swith from Novenmber till May or so. We do have 340 acres lots of room to turn your bus around.

Grant, sounds like a good deal, But I am afraid that you would get the short end of the deal here. 37 degrees this morning, and no heat in site ;D
