OK timing really seems to be more than a coincidence! Really, honestly it does. At least to me it does.
OK OK, never mind I promised Frank, HTR, and the rest of the moderators I'd be really really good the rest of the year! (besides I'm still hoping Santa will bring me that new B500R we need for one of the "new" Setra's!)
You'll have to read my mind which I'm sure several of you like Jack Hart, Frank, Cody, Van and several others probably already have! ;D
;D BK ;D
Yes BK it's just you....Cable ;D
No, I'm right behind a buddy. My replacement DD that I just put in to replace the original, needs replacement :o >:( >:( >:(, but I nomad ;)
still gittin afta it ;D
Because my name wasn't mentioned I feel qualified to say "Yes It's All Your Fault, and you are being punished for being bad"! ;D
I'll go back and crawl in my cubicle now! ::)
Paul
BK,
I am trying to read your mind........But I keep drawing a blank...LOL....;D... ;D...;D
As a man of the hill country knows, you can't always ride on the ridge, sometimes you have to go through the valley to get to the next peak..........but sometimes that valley is "mighty wide".
Hang in there Pal
Cliff
BK, it is definitely co-inky dinkal, ;D. Ice cream any one? It Always cheers me up :D
To answer your question, yes, it is just you if the rest of us have no idea what you're talking about.
Trying to read your mind has confused me - I think (maybe I don't think any more - - or can't)
WOW!!!!
A Post about NOTHING.....
OH, wait a second, now I get it...... Nope just lost it....Dang, it's getting harder every day to hang on to those stray thoughts......
Well I digress....
Actually I'm just slipping away.......
.
BK,
The longer the monkey is on your back, the longer I don't have to worry about the monkey finding me!
THANKS!
PS no good deed goes unpunished. ::)
I didn't realize you had been so benevolent lately . . . ;D
No Bryce, it's not just you.
I had my wheel fall off my Ford Escort last night. I heard a funny wrapping noise coming from the front wheel. Pulled over to check it out, couldn't find anything wrong. Drove a couple hundred yards to a friends place, and we couldn't find anything wrong. Concluded it was probably a CV joint going bad.
We couldn't get a flatbed into his driveway to tow it, and figured since it was 4 miles home: 1 mile on country road, 3 miles on very little traveled and easy accessible 4-lane roads, that it would be okay to "nurse" it home at slow speed, and if it broke, no big deal, just coast to the shoulder and call a truck in the morning. Cheap tow, cheap fix. Beenthere donethat.
One Problem: The CV joints are fine. It was the drivers side front lug nuts.
Yup..noise got worse, I started pulling to the side of the road as it was getting wobbly, and CRACK! The wheel went in front of on oncoming car (Who missed it thank God). My Dad and buddy came out, I found 3 of the lug nuts, jacked the car up, put the wheel on, got it home, then got it to the shop this AM (Only another 2 miles down the road), and am awaiting a damage report.Currently my Dad, Girlfriend, and mechanic are all going over my "enemies" list, but unless I was follwed into Pittsburgh into a protected parking lot where and when nobody would have expected me yesterday, then home where my Dad and I were in and out of the house, I don't see how it could have been sabotaged.
The car seems okay. It only slid about 25 feet or so. Three points to all this: One, nobody was hurt. Two, I should have listen to my inner voice and not moved the car. Also, my Dad and friend said do not overtighten the nuts. (They were lose again when I got home. These are Alloy wheels, and I know better. They need to be on there TIGHT. Alloy expands and contracts differently than steel. I've heard the arguments about wheel warpage and stripped studs, I've experienced those two issues myself, but this beats them both.) And three, ALWAYS CHECK your NUTS...
LOL Have a good rest of the week.
Doug
I totally understand BK! ;) ;D
Jack
PS...and agree!
I had a wheel fall off a Range Rover once, and I don't really know why it happened either. I had stayed in a campsite for a week (vehicle parked and not used), then did an 80-mile journey during which I began to feel something was wrong, but stopped to check and could fine nothing amiss. Then on the next journey the front wheel fell off at around 40mph with almost no warning. Fortunately it stayed within the wheelwell and did little damage to the car, but the bolt holes on the expensive alloy wheel were comprehensively chewed up.
Whether the nuts had been loosened somehow I don't know, but the end result was that the studs (lugs?) sheered off. It might be significant that this was a Mk1 Range Rover fitted with a set of specially-made adapters to allow Mk3 (ie. current shape) Range Rover wheels to be fitted. I'm sure the adapters themselves were fine (tested to German TUV standards apparently), but although they had done many thousands of miles with no problem I later learned that they were supposed to have hub-rings (spigot spacers) fitted, to suit the particular wheels being used. The hub-rings are just bits of flimsy plastic, but mine didn't have any, so rather than the wheels actually seating on the hub they were just held in place by the studs.
Whether this was relevant or not to the failure I don't know, but I guess I learnt something. In my defense, I'd never come across hub-rings before - earlier Range Rovers didn't used them, but then they did have proper Land Rover axles with studs about three times larger than the BMW items the later versions are fitted with.

I took a vote, parts of me agree, but most don't.

OK now I'll run and hide.
Actually I gotta go haul a load of drunk frat boys and their dates to Jackson for their Winter Formal/
Black Tie Affair um I mean brown bottle fiasco! ;D
;D BK ;D
O.K., it is time to stop clowning around, this is some serious stuff here that requires thinking outside the box. ;D ;D ;D
So long as it doesn't include Quantum physicals, count me in, ;).
Hey! :o,it's cold out here, stay in the box it's warmer ;D ;D ;D
BK,LMAO, Don't forget to check the bus before you lock up.Hee Hee! :-X
i think this is totally based on string theory! this is a thread, after all. and we need to do something before BK gets to the end of his line. in which case, he could tie up any of the unruly frat boyz.
this whole conversation is knots :D :D
Hmmm. Just tried to read BK's mind as he suggested. Yikes, that was a scary place. ;D ;D ;D

Mike, You are fortunate, I've seen the result, it aint purdy. ;D
Ok I'm totally lost on this thread???? Van, did I hear you say that you are replacing the replacement engine you just put in? That just don't sound good!! What happened?
BK,
Time to come clean on this one.
It is turning into a three ring circus with all this speculation!
Cliff
Eric, yup, it's one of those damned if you do damned if you don't,scenario's. Replacement 6V is blowing smoke still after the first 60 miles or so and blowing oil out of the AB drains. Was hoping to put a couple hundred miles on her tomorrow on a short trip back up here to Vegas and back to Clifford's place by the end of the day, and see if she cleans up(doubtfull :'(.
In the mean time we will be building a new one for when this one gives up the ghost. In the mean time we'll see if we can make it down to the Q and run this one the way it is(limited use) ::) ;D
One step forward,two steps back :( :D
Van
Van, At least you can move it under it's own power, something that hasn't been done for a while. You'll get it all worked out buddy.
Craig, Maybe we'll just ingore BK and see what happens, you never know with that guy! ;D ;D ::) ::)
Paul
Byrce, Calle me on monday if you can, maybe we can help eachother.
Van, Run the piss out of that engine, but don't over heat it. It may have a problem but there are some good parts in it if you don't brake it. I will talk to you soon.
Don
Roger Houston, ;D ;D THAT'S A GO WITH THROTTLE UP! ;D ;D.Although you know me and and that big foot of mine ??? Don That gauge seems to be the most watched gauge on the panel. So far temps were at 175 there abouts, which was nice to see for once, but the temps are cool now here.
Maybe a run to Phoenix,Flag,Vegas and back will help?
BK,sorry to steal ya thread LOL,but you wasn't doin much with it any who ;D ;D :D
I will now return you to our unusually scheduled fishing tournament :-*
Oh! Bryce, did you check the bus :D

;D BK ;D
Okay BK if you did Rob the transmission shop and got caught all you would need in court for your defense is this thread.
If this isn't proof of your sanity / insanity nothing is :)
Plus who would rob a bank to pay a transmission shop :)
ALWAYS CHECK your NUTS...
LOL Have a good rest of the week.
Doug
Uuueeeee easy there uhhh Cough, Cough. Good News guys I just checked mine and they seem to be fine. LOL

Follow-up to my post. The car is just fine. My mechanic said the rotor looks a little polished(Actually, scratched like a tool-mark), but you would never suspect anything bad happened. Am getting steel wheels this week. I like alloy, or as my GF says: Al U min-eum (She works with High Speed Steel). But Garbage..er Mild Steel is just fine with me. They will "look" like Aluminum when I'm done ;).
All is well. Momma is happy, and I'm happy. (Bryce, at least you have one person to keep happy, yourself ;D.) One thing I enjoy about the board, it seems very helpful and caring, even to us long-time "wannabes" :D Be well.
