I want to use the Penquin for my A/C. But I've heard that as of the first of the year, the Duotherm A/C's are stopping the use of R22 for a new greener freon (R404?). Should I try to buy the A/C's now or wait for the new green freon? Thanks, TomC
Hi Tom,
It's not really a big concern for the RV industry. Most of the mfg's are going to switch to R-417A. Which
is a direct drop in for R-22.. No changing to polyester oils! Actually, 417-A is slightly more efficient then R-22.
The residential end has allready switched to R-410A which operates at twice the PSI as R-22 and is the #1 reason
why I don't like it... Especially here along the coast where condencers tend to rott out much quicker then other places.
Refrigerant leaks with 410 are allready a major issue here...
