Title: Coolant Hoses
Post by: colecruzer on November 23, 2009, 09:21:09 PM
Hi,
I have a 79 MC-5C with a 6V-71 Detroit.  I have pulled my radiators to have them borred out and pressure tested.  They tested good and are ready to re-install.  Should I replace all my rubber hoses on the coolant lines since it is drained down?  If so, should I use a special type of hose to replace them?  Also, I have a couple medium size holes on my firewall in the area where the radiators fit in.  Any recommendations how to repair them?  Thanks for any input.
Rich

Freightliners hose of choice is Gates Blue Stripe.  It is longer lasting then standard rubber hoses without the cold weather leaking problems of Silicone hoses.  Good Luck, TomC
