Title: MCI 102A3 - diagram question - Rear J-Box
Post by: Hartley on November 22, 2009, 01:13:03 PM
Ok, Yeah I know I have an MC9, But I keep getting drawn into trying to help others.

This time by phone..

A Buddy has an 102A3 8V92TA-MUI...

We located a bad breaker that feeds the engine stop relay and bypassed that
and also got the stop relay to behave on command from the temp-stats.

This also fixed the compartment lights too??? That was wierd for all to be on
a single 6-amp breaker.

The problem that started all of this was that the skinner valve for engine run
does not have any voltage getting to it. We checked switch positions and tried
to eliminate other goofy stuff.

From Stop relay terminal 5 what terminal on the rear junction box does that 24 volts appear on. And where does that wire go to in the rear remote box. And where does the harness for the skinner valve go to?

My diagrams are a bit different than the 102 diagrams. Can anyone grab the manual page that tells the right stud numbers and where they go to and from?

Maybe email that page to me?

I think the problem may be something in the remote box since as I understand it possibly the previous owner may have fiddled with the wiring when that breaker
messed up. I just hate to ask someone to dig around blindly without an idea what should have been there originally.

I am not up for a 700 mile service call to fix a 10 minute problem.

Dave....

Dallas, I really appreciate the help on that manual.

As it turns out the "original" MCI ( Directly Purchased ) Manual seems to have
been missing the Page 7-1 which is the fold out diagram.

Funny though, The MC9 Manual diagrams have the same stud numbers and relay wiring info as the 96 & 102 coaches but in a clearer version.

I foraged through the pdf fold out and managed to identify where the problem is located and a possible work around to fix it or find the bad run/stop switch circuit.

Now the fun part is talking someone through it again by phone. No problem as the guy knows how to follow instructions and hopefully will save me from a trip to Orlando to fix a 10 minute switch problem.

It's funny how the coaches in the MCI line all seem to have almost identical wiring diagrams in the critical areas. Some have a few more terminals wired up than others but basically the same.

Thanks Again,

Dave....
