In another post I mentioned that I found today that I have correctly working auto slack adjusters on the rear axle of my bus, and manual slack adjusters on the front. One of the fronts has a broken locking ring for the adjusting bolt, so I will need to change it out. I will change both so that i know I have identical units on both sides. The question would be should I stay with manual slacks or go to auto slacks? I think the auto slacks, if brand new and maintained, should be reliable. On the other hand the front slacks on this bus are simplicity itself to adjust, just turn the wheel to lock and there they are.
What do you think? Is there a cost difference or availability difference to speak of? It's a 1980 MCI MC-5C.

I would save the cash and go manual. It's good to have a reason to have a look while you are doing it...also I am cheap I mean inexpensive.
I would say depends on availability.
I was replacing some on an older coach not long ago (not MCI) and manuals are no longer available for it!
