Question for the board, I have a 7500watt belt driven head that I would like to install where my old compressor for the AC is
located. Was wondering if it would be worth the time and effort to use it for the over head AC'S, and what would it take to
make it work.

You can also convert a belt driven Delco 50DN to air cooled which will crank out 330 amps at 24 volts. Penntax is the name of the company that offers the conversion.

I do have one of those for my starter on my engine, would it be possible to run another one to run the Ac's?

Steve, if you have the factory 50 dn on board, and no factory AC, why don't you use it to run the AC's? You need an interver, obviously, to get 120 VAC from the 24 volts. The issue I see with belt-driving a typical generator head is that unless it's an inverter style generator, it sets it's frequency from rotational speed, and by belt driving it from the engine you have no control over rotational speed. You need to have an inverter in there somewhere, I think.

A company called Aura Systems sells the AuraGen. It is a belt driven generator for DC and AC loads. It generates 400 volts DC and uses an inverter to create 115 volts. It can also charge a battery bank and drive DC loads. The website says up to 8.5KW continuous load, but probably based on ideal conditions.
I had previously thought this system was a straight AC generator, but that would difficult to do at varying RPMs.
Actually, maybe you could use the factory 2 hp 80 amp condensor fan motor (if you still have it) to run a gen head at a constant speed. I don't think 2 hp will run much of a gen head though, or what speed the fan motor runs at.
