Title: Taping over fresh paint
Post by: jok on November 10, 2009, 07:28:40 PM
I'm hoping to get some technical help from you guys that have painting experience. I am wondering how long after painting the bus I can safely apply tape. Also, which is better to use on fresh paint, blue or green tape.

Thanks,
John

Star Junk uses green. I am not sure if that is good or bad, but FWIW.

God bless,

John

Depends on what type of paint, call the guy you bought it from, he should know. For tape I'd use the green or whatever the auto paint store has these days, there are many types.

Also when removing pull it back against itself not straight out.  Tom Y

When i am painting race cars I tape the second colour about 2 hours after the first coat is tack free.  I use the tape the auto paint store sells me for taping, it's a special tape that really reduces bleeding under the tape edge.  Or I just use the green painting tape from the big store.
