Title: Bendix cruise control
Post by: ljhall on November 10, 2009, 04:06:14 PM
Anybody have any experience with these units? Mine is surging back and forth. It will pour the power to
it and then back off.

If your cruise control was a Rostra - I would tell you to first check the amount of "idle slack" in the cable

That's the amount of free play or slop in the cable when the unit is off -

On a Rostra - I just pinch the pull cable and give it a tug - it should only have an 1/8" to 1/4" slack - if it has a lot more - IT WILL SURGE

My King 2500 will do that also when there is to much slack in the cable.

good luck

My cable is taut- that was my first thought also. I also put a little heavier spring on the return which
helped a little, but seems it is gradually getting worse, especially on a slight downgrade.

Its a long time since I installed my King Cruise Larry but it sticks in my head that there was some sequence of switches that I went through to adjust the sensitivity.  Maybe there is some similar process for the Bendix.
