Title: Progress resumes
Post by: Van on November 10, 2009, 06:38:06 AM
After a loooong Hot summer, progress on the Eagle has resumed, first off was to get the coach into the shop.Engine is DOA and needed to come out. After some crawling around chasing air leaks (auto drain/front tank)Clifford and I aired the bus up and released the brakes.Clifford used his trusty tractor and we moved it out onto the road, where we then hooked onto the rear and pulled me backwards into the shop.

Now the fun begins. No, I had never pulled an engine from a bus before,M-2 Abrams Tank yes, trucks pan scrapers, heck even huey's yes,but an Eagle, well lets just say I was chomping at the bit LOL and ready to sink my teeth into the almost half an inch or better road grime that covered the entire contents of the engine bay (yu-uk!) :o ;D. Five hours later and a busted up knee the engine was out! Finally! Next will be the pressure washing of EVERY THING and then the swapp over for all the components to the newer 6V92.Here are just a couple of photos from Saturday's event. Thanks Clifford for your guidance and all your help buddy, more next weekend after my knee heals

I don't believe it.  I'd like to see a picture of Clifford's bus in that shop.  No wonder he is moving to Texas and getting rid of his bus - he never gets to use his shop anyway.   ;D

Do tell,Do tell ;D I can see moving day now. It will take nothing less than a military scale operation to move the contents of his shop  ;D

looking good Van keep working at it and it will be done before you know it.
You know I don't think I have seen Clifford's shop that clean. You need to take some pic's of it after you get the bus out and save them for posterity. LOL

The real reason Clifford is selling his bus is he can't never get it in his own shop !!! Too many friends.

Sell his shop to a friend keep his bus, In his friends NEW shop do needed work , move closer to family,

come to friends shop annually for visit/ work on bus. !!!!!  ;D ;D ;D

  Problem sloved !!!!!!

When does Doyle have reservations !!!(Sorry buddy)

I'll let you know when I headed that way , need a picture of it in there if nothing else.

How far is Sierra Vista from you Clifford?

Progress looks good !

I can help to notice the engine stand or dolly  is it a genuine Detroit diesel  item?

It looks like it has two hydraulic jacks built right in the stand.

I've removed two 6v71"s in the last month and was wondering how get the engine back in just using the pallet jack they are sitting on.

Any close ups of that dolly around??

Thanks  ( high jack over ) :)

Paso, the stand belongs to Gary Bennett of B&B coach here in Vegas,I believe he built it at the shop.
