Title: Trip is winding down
Post by: JackConrad on November 01, 2009, 03:22:48 AM
Our first long trip is coming to an end. We will leave the SE Busnuts rally today to go visit with Fred Hobe, then to Bushnell, FL to see Florida Cliff and NCBob and there lovely brides. Next weekend we will head over to the Florida Flywheelers for the antique tractor and engine show, then home.
It has been a wonderful 5 months. We have met some great people, seen some neat stuff and had a great time.  We want to thank all the busnuts we visitied for their hospitality and freindship.  The coach has performed well with the "new" engine, gotta love thosoe Jakes!  Approx. 5000 miles and 2 1/2 gallon of oil. Only problems has been a transmission front seal leaking that will be resolved when we get home (we just add fluid as needed) and an electrical problem the other day coming to Hoboken. Driving along and suddenely the engine died. I checked my gauges and noticed no voltage on the 24 volt voltmeter. We pulled over and I checked voltage at the batteries 28.3. I decided it has to be a connection or component (relay, solenoid, etc.) failure. I removed a screw from the engine stop piston on top of the governor and moved it to prevent it from stopping the engine, jumped the starter and we were on our way, planning to check wiring when we arrived at Hoboken. A few miles down the road, all 24 volt now functioning and still is. Now it is going to be difficult to trace down the problem.  Will monitor 24 volt system for a few days before re-installing the engine stop piston.  Jack
