Jerry,

I see that you are from Hermiston, Or.

I live in Vancouver, Wa. and I am currently in the process of converting a 102A3. Let's hook up some time.

As the Beach season is ending I'm wondering how to take advantage of Quartzite.   Where to park?  Do I need permits?  How do I keep from sinking into the sand?  Is there a preferred area?  What is the etiquette?

Any insight would be welcome.

Mike

Sinking in the sand won't be an issue, it's not like beach sand.  I suppose you could possibly manage to get stuck at Q but it's certainly not common.  Getting through some of the washes might be more of an issue (getting high centred).  As I understand there are areas where you can park without permits but I'm not sure how that works - for what they cost we just buy a long term permit.

Our preferred area is south of town on the east side of the highway but there's lots of real estate to park on in every direction.  I think it is more fun if you have a few other rigs to spend the time with.  That way you can have a group campfire in the evening and you have somebody to drink coffee with in the morning.
