I am looking for a supplier of RV type small dimension rectangular ducting. Thinking about replacing ALL of my non insulated round dryer vent type ductwork. I can't believe the previous owner spent all that money doing a conversion and then put this stuff in. Yuck.
Also, on my suburban furnaces where the gas supply line comes through the shell leaks like sieve. What can I safely use to fill in that gap? Thought about that yellow expanding stuff but was worried about flammability and fumes.
Any thoughts? Aluminum tape?
This is gonna be a pain no matter how I look at it.

I made my own with the 1/2" foam sheets with foil on both side from home depot
Ray D
what we used for ducting was take a 4by8 foiled faced foam sheet and scour one side at each bend and make the rectangle we needed then tape the sides at the joint. also use a lot of spray foam to fill cracks and help protect things from rubbing...I insulated my bay doors by drilling 5/16 holes on a 6inch grid on the inside then spray foam till it came out the next hole etc..really helped the cold floor and total energy use. had to chip out around the release handles.
Be careful injecting the canned foam through a small hole. Some of that stuff will expand aggressively enough that it will deform the void you are putting it into.
Another alternative which will allow use of existing vents.

Air flows through round ducts with less resistance anyway...
Good Luck
Nick-
Rick, I can make anything you need at our shop, if you want galv. steel
or aluminum. Maybe when I look at your A/C system ?

I make all my ducts and T's / 90's out of 1/4" ridge insulation that had foil on one side, it was a house wrap product. The stuff works great and fast to build.
Ron, that stuff is workable just like real metal you can bend it on a sheet metal brake too! All you need is a razor knife and foil tape, and a straight edge to make nice cuts, they actually made my "T's" for me, my total cost for the bus was about $170 including shipping. It took about 3 hours to install the system, minus the transitions. I have 3 duotherm heat pumps (roof tops). If you follow their instructions for duct sizing I can't imagine it not working well and looking like a quality installation!
We used UltraDuct. Great stuff to work with. I cut with a straight edge and utility knife, scored with a screen spline installation tool, folded and taped the seam with aluminum duct tape.
We purchased ours from Innovative Energy, Inc, Lowell, IN 800-776-3645. We picked ours up at there place (4x8 sheets), but they will cut it into 2x4 sheets so it can be shipped via UPS/FedEx. I dealt with Ron Rado (VP & Gen. Manager) Jack
