Title: Slideout footrest
Post by: danielmeguel/1974 MCI on October 16, 2009, 03:15:35 PM
Hello fellow bus-nuts. I'm about ready to install co-pilots seat and currently looking for a design for a footrest. Anybody got an idea? One that'll be out of the way when parked. Thank you all in advance. Danielmeguel 1974 MCI8

I mounted the copilot seat far enough back for the footrest to be the floor. That way she can also see out the side window.I thought at the time that it might be a problem talking to her with her sitting farther back than me but it is not.

The original co-pilot seat in my bus (now removed) was nicely designed, as it was a folding seat which projected over the stairwell when in use, with a footrest built into the stairwell bannister.

I always thought it was a really well thought-out arrangement, and very space efficient when the seat wasn't being used. The seat had a sign on it that said 'For crew use only', which my friend who crews my boat thought meant him (which it did, kinda)

Jack Conrad did a great how-to article on an electrically operated retracting footrest in the August 2008 issue of BCM.
