Title: air top heater
Post by: johns4104 on October 08, 2009, 12:48:44 PM
I have a pd4104 and would like to install a air top heater.
I would like to put it in my utility bay with the water tanks etc. and also put a diesel tank in there vented to the outside of course.
Has anyone installed one and what size unit should i use.
The bus has 1 1/2" spray foam and all penninsula window and is sealed up pretty good.

Thanks,
John

John:

Is the purpose of this solely to heat the tank area (prevent freezing), or do you plan to direct the air flow upward into the living space?  Makes a big difference in the sizing requirements.

I would think the Airtop 2000 would be plenty to handle the bays and maintain above freezing climate.

I doubt even the Airtop 5000 would be sufficient to handle the living space unless there were other heat sources. (Or multiple Airtops).   If memory serves, the 5000 has about 17,000 BTUs at full power.   Probably enough to keep it comfortable with outside temps that don't drop below 45, but I wouldn't want to rely solely on this if you plan to be in temps below freezing.
