I took the liberty of coping this and starting a thread of it's own so everyone can see that Jack has had a problem that we all need to pray for a "Speedie" recovery for.

I ended up going to the ER yesterday via ambulance due to severe lower back spasms. They released me with some pretty heavy duty pain med ans muscle relaxer (no driving for at least a couple days). Not sure if or when we will get there. Jack
BK,
Thanks, I am doing much better today, at least I can walk and sit with no spasms, just a low grade lower back ache. I won't try driving until I am off the pain meds, not worth the risk of driving with slowed reactions due to the meds. Jack
Bummer Jack. You need to get better quickly! You are too old to get that hurt. But then again getting old ain't for sissies. ;D Just as a side thought, have y'all been kayaking lately? Just thinking out loud.
God bless.
John
Here's hoping for a quick recovery for you Jack!
I have similar issues with my own back, and am now a fulltime member of the 50 mcg/h Fentanyl Patch Club due to it. I also take enough 10/325 Norco, that I rattle when I walk. :(
Good luck!

Jack,
We will pray for a fast and painless recovery. Tami and I both know that back problems are no walk in the park.
Tami and John
Jack,
You can believe I am sorry to hear about your back pain. As you probably know I am also still having much difficulty which hampers working on the Eagle as vigorously as I want to. The pain is very severe from the middle of back, through my butt down to the back of both of my legs at the same time. The spasms nearly bring me to my knees. The operation I had only give me great relief for about 6 months, here we go again. So take your time, we hope to see you at Kyle's rally and here at the house as you planned.
You have a lot of nuts pulling for you as you know. Have Paula tow the bus with the Jeep?? HEHE
Good Luck Jack and these are supposed to be the great golden years!!
Gary
Almost back to normal today. I was amazed at how extreme the pain could be when those lower back muscles go into spasm. We plan to leave Thursday morning to go to Palmetto Cove.
Yes, I kayaked Saturday, participating to the NC "Clean Sweep" river clean up program. I think that was what started the problem. A lot of reaching to the side picking up trash from the river bank. Then I paddled a couple miles of class 1 rapids on Sunday as this was going to be my last chance to paddle some NC rapids before heading to SC. Jack
will be praying for you jack get well soon john & lidia / costa rica
For Crying out Loud, Jack! If you're not careful you won't have the pleasure of experiencing these wonderful "Golden Years" Jackie and I are living! ;)
Could it be that you should be sitting on the porch 'cause you can't 'run with the big dogs' anymore? :D
I doubt that I could handle all the pleasure you and Paula have had this summer traveling the country and visiting good friends. But certainly you youngsters should be able to......
Take it easy, and safe, and we'll be welcoming your visit around the 1st of November.
Jackie & Bob
Jack,
Next time you go to take a nap, throw out your front instead :D
Let us know if we can help and hope to see you there.
Just for the heck of it you guys might want to check your potassium levels. Might be part of the problem.
Sounds like some under-used muscles and attaching tissues are making a statement!
Get them some rest, and then get them limbered up for more of the same use!!!
The body just yelps louder and longer as it gets more "experience"
Playing it safe or pushing the limit, doesn't change the march of time.
I'm finding myself inclined to push....
happy coaching!
buswarrior
Be well all y'all & pace yourselves . . . .
Look forward to hearing of the hearty recovery. ;D
This is not what I wanted to hear Jack!
I hope you get better soon and do what the Doc says. Don't mess around with it, I had back surgery 8 years ago, it aint no fun. But I've been pain free since.
Take Care and don't push it!
Paul
Glad to hear you are mending fast and we'll pray it continues.
I know what you mean about how fast it can go from zero to agony. When I injured my back 25 years ago it was almost a month from the event that injured it till it showed any symptoms. Then one day I got in the car feeling fine, drove to a gas station about a mile away and when I tried to get out of the car I was in so much pain I could barely move.

Hi Jack,
Bet you haven't had that much exercise since you lifted your last stretcher into the back of an ambulance :)
Rest well. And quit doing young people stuff like you're still a young people!! :D
All the best friend. We're praying for your quickest recovery.
Ian
Hi Jack & Folks:
No Jack, don't give up the younger folks stuff, because the alternative is to sit around and get old.
Then all you will have to talk about is ILLS, BILLS and PILLS.
Happy & SAFE!! Bussin' to ALL.
LUKE at US COACH
Wishing you a speedy recovery, give them muscles a rest and then have fun enjoying life to teh fullest!

Keep on raging Jack.
Jack,
I just had a chance to look at this thread again. Makes sense about the kayaking. Be more careful next time, but don't give up the young people stuff. Maybe break into it a little slower, but don't quit.
So how are you feeling now?
God bless.
John
Posted from my Itouch.
Sorry to hear about your back, Jack. ..( hmmm, I made a funny). On the other hand, back pain is noooooo funny.
Larry has tons of sympathy for you, as he was down twice, count 'em TWICE this summer, in his back. It really was the pitts. The nd time was right before an unexpected trip to NY, and afer a day or two there, we thought we might just have to pack up and go home. As it is, a little Chinese acupunturist in Chinatown fixed him right up, yee haw. He's still watching it pretty closely, but he is definitely on the mend. . .hoping you are too! Christy Hicks
I have those muscle spasms also. They are the worst.....bar none. Except the time I poured gasoline in my ear and that is whole other story.
The only guy that could "fix" those spasms was an Osteopath named Sol Lizerbram in San Diego. He used a device called the "Diothermy" and it deep heated somehow like a microwave oven. 10 minutes and I was OK. I went in there creeping my fingers along the wall and grunting LOUDLY. Took a half hour to get in from my car and that was 30 feet and a hallway. Put up with them for 15 years till I stumbled on to Sol recommended by a Navy Corpsman that saw my problem coming on an airplane flight. The Diothermy is no longer in use as it was the source of malpractice suits for millions of dollars. Sol said that it could do severe damage if not used properly cause it heated from the inside out and there was no heat sensation on the inside. Now the moral of this story is that HEAT works like magic. And I mean lots of hot heat. A hot Jaquezzie is a really good start. Good luck with this. I never took the pain meds but I ate those musc relaxers for a couple days after the first visit to Sol as insurance. Was ok to drive so I guess they were not too strong.
John
Just an update. After taking it easy all weekend at Kyle's non-rally, my back is feeling better. I have just about quit taking the pain pills all together and pain is only a dull ache if I stand too long. At least no more sparms. We are prersently visiting with Gary & Linda LaBombard in Greenville for a day or 2 before heading to John & Lois's place near Augusta for more resting. Thanks to all for their prayers and wishes. Jack
Hey Buddy!! You know what it's like when you visit the Vickrey Ponderosa. We have a roof to put on, and I've checked out the local creeks so you can go kayyaking. ;D
Jack,
Glad to hear your doing better.
Look forward to seeing you both in the near future.

Cliff,
When we get to your neck of the woods, we have a bicycle rack for ya'll frrom Jack Hart. Jack
Hey Jack Glad to hear you are doing better. Hope to see you all soon
I don't know about you, Jack, but I make more noise now just getting out of bed than I used to when I was in it! (Read that one in the comics) Glad you're on the mend.

Geeze, Jack...
You sound like you're trying to follow in my own footsteps with back pain... Hopefully yours will go away though. Mine is rather permanent. :( Did they give ya anything good besides the relaxers? :) I prefer opiates, but they aren't for everyone... Some people just can't handle them.
But hey, if you're going to be somewhere along my route this coming weekend when I get my bus, I'd be happy to stop in and visit. It'll be nice to get out of this house for a while, and STAYING out for a few days is a damn nice thought!
I'll be heading to NC to get the bus... So, if you or anyone else is along the path from Bossier City, LA to NC... :)
-Mac
Mac, if you will be passing through Chattanooga, TN give us a shout, we should be here. 863-303-4008
That might be a little too far out of the way. :s I'll see what I can work in. :)

Mac where in NC are you going? You'll be near many busnuts along the way, but you need to narrow down which way! ;D
;D BK ;D
China Grove, NC... Just pull up google maps and punch in "71111 to China Grove, NC" and that's my intended path. :)

Mac,
We will be staying sat a friends for the next 2 weeks near Dearing, GA (a little west of Augusta and just a few miles south of I-20). Plenty of room for another bus if this is along your route. They gave me valium for the muscle relaxer and Percocet for the pain. I am down to 1 pain pill in the AM. Jack
