Title: Quick question
Post by: Paladin on October 01, 2009, 08:13:19 PM
What size is the bearing nut on MCI tag axles? I know I don't have a socket that large and I'll need one.

There are special sockets for bearing nuts and they aren't that expensive, relative to some stuff.

Maybe 4"? My tools are up north with the coach....

Your local heavy truck parts vendor will have them in all sizes.

As part of the job, just pull off the bearing cover, measure it and off to the store you go!

who knows for sure?

happy coaching!

outer nut is 2 1/2 inches.

You'll also need to build a 2 prong socket for the bearing nut. There was a thread on here awhile back where Jack Conrad had photos of his. His was
simpler than mine.

Here's the link. Took some time to find it....
