Dallas,
    We had to replace our Coleman (RVP) thermostat last summer. We found an OEM thermostat at Lazy Days (almost $300). Yes it is a 12 volt DC thermostat.  Is the Robert Shaw AC or DC voltage?  Jack

Hi Dallas,

It looks like you can do it but you will not be able to have two fan speeds with the robertshaw t-stat.

Y on your coleman= compressor and the same "Y" for the t-stat
GH on your coleman= your fan or "G" on the t-stat
B on the coleman= R on your t-stat

Hi Dallas,

After getting a closer look at your diagram, I see that the "B" is 12v ground. Where is your "R" 12v positive?

The 12v+ "R" needs to be switched/connected to the "R" on the robertshaw..

Pete's diagram shows the 12v+"R" but, yours didn't..

I have two Coleman roof airs, and didn't feel like using the built-in theromstat would be a problem at all.

Since I've been using them for nearly 4 years now, I've decided that when I do make a change, it will be to install a digital, line votage thermostat to control my front AC, and an additional one in the bedroom, to control the rear AC and rear heater.

Hey BCS!!   I used a house type stat for my rear air. It had a mercury switch which I found to be more sensitive then the RV stuff.  Now house type stats do not have 2 speed fans, but I was able to add a small switch to the circut to convert it to a two speed.

I cant remember exactly how I did it, I can't remember a lot these days. But with a bit of trail and error I'm sure you can do it!!  Or maybe somebody more knowledgeable can chip in.
