It's a Jiamu(?) from China of course from 'da-bay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Diesel-Turbo-Detroit-series-60-_W0QQitemZ220482128989QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090918?IMSfp=TL0909182010003r28685 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Diesel-Turbo-Detroit-series-60-_W0QQitemZ220482128989QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090918?IMSfp=TL0909182010003r28685)
$490 plus shipping with no core charge is plenty cheap... anyone have any knowledge of these turbos (Seems they make knock-offs for Cat, Cummins, etc, etc.)
Thanks,
dg
I no longer automatically associate all Chinese products with junk, there is some quality coming from China. Without some first hand knowledge of this particular company and product, I would not try it.
How much could an exploding turbo cost you in engine damage?
I found this web site http://jiamuturbo.com/index.php (http://jiamuturbo.com/index.php) but a hotmail contact address does not inspire confidence.
Doyle, I spoke with Tom at Turbo Re-Source in Lake Havasu he said that turbo is junk run from it not worth the shipping fee.
He is getting me a price together for you on a rebuilt Garrett with a waste gate set at 12 or 15# and he seems to think it won't be much more money.
I am also working on a core from Andy he has several at the shop
Good luck
Clifford, thanks... it seemed too good to be true and I'd bet it is!!! Appreciate all your help as ever!
Best,
dg
Doyle, you might want to consider a brand new Borg Warner KKK K31 which is a improved design over the Garrett..
They have a few version for the different HP ratings. The nice thing about the 3K design is the very efficient CNC billet compressor wheel.
