I want to replace all of the amber and red turn/stop/tail lights on my bus with new current technology LED lights. I can find the 7" red lights in 24 volt fairly easily, but I'm not finding the 5" diameter lights. Does anyone have a good vendor for these?
Thanks very much,
Brian

The taillight cluster on your 5C, as you know, is the same as on the 8s and 9s. Later model 9s changed the turn signal and tail lights to the more common 4" truck units held in place with a rubber ring. And since they're common truck units, they should be a lot easier to find. MCI also changed the turn signals to amber on the rear, too, btw, when they went to the rubber ring retainer.
The large 7" brake light is very common on school buses - you can also get them in amber for turn signal use.
If you're not to far from a heavy duty truck parts house, you might meander in and take a look at all their 4" LED units.
Might also try Luke, to see what he's got available. 1-888-262-2434.

RJ,
I am also looking to upgrade my 1981 MCI 9, Is the 24volt common on trucks?

Some of the vendors make versions of their LED lights that are 24 volt or universal taking up to 24 volts. You'll probably have to special order them unless a local bus repair place has them.
this place has 4" aand 7" lights in 24 volt. They have a 4" light that has a stainless trim ring around the outside that might be usable as a 5" light. I'm going to call Luke tomorrow and ask his advice, if he doesn't have anything I'll call MCi and ask them, then probbly order from these guys. http://www.allightech.com/7INCH%20RND.htm (http://www.allightech.com/7INCH%20RND.htm)

Not all LED's are created equal.
Several vendors sell LED's that have a real short life.
As expensive as they are I would try to either buy locally and expect a hour service gurantee, or not at all. I have spent a fortune on LED's that started to burn out one little LED at a time almost as soon as I put them in service.
Now I'm back to the inexpensive long lasting bulbs for the most part.
