Hello all,
After purchasing our first bus, a 1981 MC9, I made to home(a trip of about 4 hours), but it then developed a bad vibration. I found that one of the squirrel cage fans came apart. 4 of the bades came off, after hitting the housing. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Does anyone know where to find a new or used one with out paying over $800 each? Thanks.....
not sure id the ones i have mci5a are the same , you can ave them , pay for the shipping, i changed mine over to hydraulic set up, does anybody know if these will help ?
Thanks mccarlk,
if they are the same that would be great. Mine measure 12" X 12".

Mtamaaj -
Which engine do you have in your MC-9?
MCI used different squirrel cages depending on the powertrain, so you have to be careful to get replacements that are correctly sized.
Changing them out is a real bear - best to pull the entire assembly and swap the squirrels on the workbench, rather than six feet in the air.
While you're in there, it would also be a good time to get the radiators professionally cleaned, and once re-installed, sealed completely all around. This will make sure that all the air being pulled in by the blowers goes thru, rather than around, the rads.
FWIW & HTH. . .
