We will be putting the new front cap and side skins on my bus soon, and I was wondering if anyone has used bondo over the seams and rivets instead of putting the top window channel and bottom molding back on.
I put Bondo over the seams on the old 05. Most of them but not all of them cracked out after time. It stayed OK over the rivets.
Would the fiber reinforced Bondo work better?
I used a product called Duraglass, with fiberglass strands in it. Loved it, works like Bondo, but much stronger. I used it on the cap and also on the breastplate, which I had to mold a shape on up to the center pillar. No cracks so far after one year. Any auto paint house should have it or something similar.

I used bondo on my seams and covered them with a trim piece glue over them because I knew they would eventually crack. The seams I didn't trim out did crack. The rivets are ok. It's been 7 years so far.

Frontman, I would but the top drip rail on it helps to keep the side of the bus clean. With it on the water runs off the front or back and will only streak there and not the whole side of the bus.
Good Luck Wayne
Wayne,
We wanted to see if we could work out a way to stop and say hi, but we had to stay with relatives in Loveland ;D. We would have liked to even stop briefly, however it was late. Right now we are in Estes Park for a day or two, before leaving. We went up trail ridge road today, and it was great (but a very exciting drive, and we rode the jakes all of the way down, we love those jakes ;D). Tomorrow we will do the park and ride to bear lake. There are some hikes that we will do from there, which are a couple of miles each, so we will be able to do several.
Sorry, frontman, didn't mean to hijack your thread.
God bless,
John
John, How was the weather up there today? It was cool down here. Are the aspen turning? I know how these trips are always short on time. Today you would have had a bonus as the Pratts are here in their beutiful Eagle. We will be leaving for the Kansas Rally at about noon on Tuesday. If we don't hook up enjoy our beautiful state
Have a safe trip, Wayne
Bummer that we missed you. Yesterday it was snowing and sleeting up on the top of trail ridge road. The bus didn't do too bad with traction (it was starting to stick). Down at lower elevations was great, but cloudy and a little rainy.
Today we are going to do Bear lake area. We are going to rest, and cover a lot of miles of hiking ;D. The aspen are just starting to turn, so it is pretty.
Funny how you guys are going to the Kansas Rally, and we are heading out of state right then...Oh, well.
We are enjoying CO. We always do! We usually go to Beuana Vista area, and have hiked most of the main 14ners there. We won't be able to do Longs Peak, this time, because we don't have enough time to acclimate. So today we are going to stick with the short 9 mile hike (which does have a lot of elevation gain, so it will be fun).
God bless,
John
