Title: ATEC
Post by: homermandy on July 16, 2006, 03:26:58 PM
Can someone decipher a date code from an Allison ATEC box?
Date code is 0045

Just trying to see when the ATEC was manufactured.

Thanks

Hi Homermandy,

I don't know allison's date codes but, I deal with alot of date codes in my busisness. And from a standard code, I see May 5th 2000'

Just a hunch but, may be so!

Here's a SWAG.. the 4 could be the month...2000, April, 5th.
Our engine date codes are just reversed from standard....either way, it looks like a mid 2000 trans.

BTW, what trans is it?

Interesting. It is an Allison HT746.  1991 Eagle 15. What's interesting is that those coaches at that time which were converted by Florida Coach had the ZF trans.  The engine which I had rebuilt was a Reliabilt in 2000.  They must have put an Allison in at that time... When did the ATEC HT746 come out?

My service manual covers all HT and HTB 700 Electronic Controls series transmissions.

It covers the HT741, HT 748, HT 755 CR, HTB 755 CR, HT 755 DR, and the HTB 755 DR.
It doesn't mention th 746 and it was published  1 May, 1990
The 746 then came out after it was published. (apparently)

1993 Orion transit bus had an HT748 with ATEC , mounted behind a 6V-92 TA with DDEC.
Hope this might help you.

Thanks.  It is probably a remanufactured HT746 since the ATEC code is from 2000?
