well guy's I finely got my engine back in hooked up and running. I took it out for a spin around Bakersfield and the fan was not working the way it should. I fixed it and started out around town again and the more drove it the more I drove it.
I started out from the shop and went north then got on hwy.99 south, it was running good so I drove some more. I pulled over a couple of times and looked every thing over to make sure there was nothing going on that should not be. I then went out hwy. 58 and up to Tehachapi on a long road test. I wound up driving 226 miles on Saturday and man did it feel good to have it back on the road. Now I need to wash it buy tires for it and finish the wiring up grades so I will be ready for the long trip to BK's the end of Sept.
Don
Nice Don, I know what you mean, I was just gonna move mine around back and I just started driving and ended up at kyle4501's. :) Kinda like Forrest Gump felt like running. :D
Congratulations on another job well done. Did it warm up any going over Tehachapi?
Good deal Don,I can't wait to get ours on the road!I suspect the same will happen here,shake down run might keep me on the road for a while(at least till I have to ask Mama for more fuel $$$ Ha ha life is good,glad your on the road agin 8) 8) 8)
Van;
It got up to 195 on long pulls but I expected a little more heat with new kits in it and I shifted the trans my self. There was a lot of traffic so i let myself get in behind some trucks till it cleared then I rolled into the throttle and away I went.
Now you need to get over the Clifford's and get your back together so we can travel together to BK's. I am still on course to leave the around the 18th of Sept
Don
Don,that's great news,195 sounds pretty good considering the heat we are still going through.My engine swap should be pretty elementary considering the abundance of space I have in the engine room,we are hopeful that the leak in the fan hydraulic system will be an easy fix.Doubtful that we can achieve all of this in such a short time span to make it to BK's gathering in Tenn(bummer,agin!).Just want to briefly give thanks to Clifford and Sonja for their hospitality and patience ,not every day you get to meet such benevolent folk as they are. I guess we will try and shoot for the TBR rally in Oct ,hopefully we will see you there,if not then the Quartzsite Rally in Jan(Either bus or tent we will be there)hopefully with out the Landoll(like a vulture)following our every move Ha Ha ,Have a great trip! :)
Van get it together and you and Binky steel tent it. BK has a shower and rest room, and you two can use mine if needed.
take the bus and leave the landoll at home.
Don
That corks it! My Mom has spoken "I'm not riding in that bus till the bedroom is done... But...I might just do what I always do and jump on the Glide an take a ride,too soon to know right now,we'll see ;D
Don,
Your adventure sounds like fun, you should have just kept on going!!!!!
Glad to hear it is working better than you expected after all of your hard work.
Now hit the road, get some miles on her and have fun doing it!
